Button Up

Hello Friends,

Welcome November.. and it is time to button up.

My husband always calls out during that last week of October and the first week of November, "It is time to button up."

The following can be checked off the list...

Spring bulbs planted

Garlic planted

Garden hoses and water turned off

Outdoor pots and planters cleaned and stored  √

Outdoor furniture cleaned and put away

Greenhouse cleaned

A few things that have to get finished up this coming week..

Winterize chicken coop

One last grill and the grill is cleaned and put away

We have enjoyed amazing weather these last few weeks of October and the first week of November. I am sharing a Weather Fun Fact..

November 2nd

1933 Eau Claire, Wisconsin reached a high temperature of 75 degrees

2022 we tied that record, we enjoyed 75 degrees on November 2nd.

And how about the coldest temperature set for November 2nd?

1951 Negative 1 degree

I will take the 75!

Happy Weekend my friends and do you button up?

  1. Looks like your garden is all buttoned up! Our weather is the same, 75 and I'm loving it, but...I know that lower temps are just around the corner and once they show up, I'll have to button up!! And that is not my favorite!! Ps- love that Linus cut out!!

  2. You got a lot done in this lovely weather. I'm slowly buttoning up too. but I still have a few things to do before the snow falls. I need to get my car winterized and my snow tires put on.
    Take care Hugs,

  3. I'm having trouble "buttoning up" with the mild weather we're having this autumn. I still have flowers blooming in many of my planters. But the advice is good. Next weekend looks more normal...

  4. Oh my, below 1 degrees, that's coooold. It's getting pretty cold here too, Carla, and we already had a dusting of snow. I love the shout out that your husband says every year, "it's time to button up." And that is the cutest little Peanuts fellow in the pumpkin field. So glad you got things checked off your list. It seems like it's never ending and there's so much to do with each new season. I love the beautiful photo you shared. Made me smile on this Friday morning.

  9. Happy weekend to you Carla. No, for the most part there really is no winterizing where I live. If there IS a freeze, it's only a day or two...and not a deep freeze Grilling is a year 'round activity.

I'm here 'cause I read your comment on babbling brook's blog.
    ..wise words!!

  10. Lovely photo! We are about two blocks from Biloxi Bay with a few barrier islands between us and the Gulf of Mexico so our climate is usually mild. We had a few days last month that called for a sweater but I'm cold natured so others were wearing shorts and tank tops.We have also had a couple of days cool enough for a fire in our wood stove. Looking forward to colder days and breakfast in front of our wood stove.

  14. Beautiful picture. Sounds like you've made really good headway with the fall clean up. I'm closing in on that myself. Still have probably one more round of raking and one more mowing of the season and then will call it done. I didn't know you planted garlic in the fall. I've never planted it. Interesting records and totally am with you on the 75 being the way to go. We grill all year long, but do move the Weber to the deck on a fire proof mat to make it easier to do in the winter. Hubby just has to slip outside that way and not walk around the house to the usual grill area.
