Hello Friends, the month of May is just about ready to say goodbye.
It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. Growing up, at what age did you think you'd become an adult? At what age did you actually become an adult?
I think when I was growing up I thought about 25 years of age I would be an adult. I got married at 22, I think I became an adult in training. I will turn 50 this coming birthday. I think I am a true adult now. I have learned from many mistakes, made lots of happy memories and keep doing my best.
2. What's a favorite item you've bought this year?
Our new vacuum cleaner!!
3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...are you a fan? If so, how do you like yours? When was the last time you had a hamburger? Besides the backyard grill, what's your favorite place to go for a burger?
Yes, I am a fan. My husband grills our burgers. He also enjoys adding toppings from fried onions, different cheeses and sauces. He likes to get creative. We had burgers last Saturday.
One of my favorite places to have a burger is
Gronk's Bar & Grill ~ Superior, Wisconsin
4. How have your priorities changed over time?
In the last year, I have decided to let go of many social media sites. I use to be on Instagram. I use to check several news feeds. I have deleted my Instagram account. And no longer check news feeds like I did in the past.
5. What's one thing on your June calendar you're really looking forward to?
Kayaking!!!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I just finished Wuthering Heights ~ Emily Bronte
Have you read it?
Please share your review or thoughts.
I read that book a long time ago . . .it has been so long, I can't remember what it was about! Silly me!
ReplyDeleteWuthering Heights is pretty much the height of romance for that period, and is timeless.
ReplyDeleteI left Facebook 3-4 years ago and haven't regretted it; now I see it as childish and a major time waster. It was fun in the beginning but soon it became just a bad habit.
ReplyDeleteI believe we read Wuthering Heights in HS but I don't remember it. There are some classics I want to re-read or read for the first time. I need to get on that.
It's been many years since I read Wuthering Heights. I should re read it. In High School we had to read it so I rushed through and really did not get a lot out of it. Now that I can appreciate it maybe I should re read it. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteLove your answer for #1. I love to be turning 50 again and have do-over. We could use a new vacuum cleaner. What did you buy? Yum on the burgers. I am getting that way about some of the social media. Since I haven't been feeling well I just spent too much time on my phone. Enjoy your kayaking! No I haven't read that book.
ReplyDeleteI think many of us are an adult in training for a certain period. So many changes - teenage years, high school, college, marriage, jobs, and/or children. At some point you realize you can do this, and I think that's when you're an adult. I'm not a kayak fan, had an unpleasant experience that's kind of scarred me but I think I would enjoy being out in a canoe.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming over the next time your hubby is grilling burgers! Hooray for a new vacuum. Social media is questionable. Yikes, I might have read Wuthering Heights but I don't remember anything about it. OYE. Enjoy your 50 year old brain!!
ReplyDeleteI need to reread Wuthering Heights. It's been a long time and you've inspired me to do a re-read. I will get back to you with my review. I need a vacuum. I might have already asked you, but what did you get? We have a central vac but I need one I can grab for quick cleanups. My hubs loves that central vac but I find its a lot. My favorite burger is the one on our backyard grill too. Have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteI liked your answer about becoming an adult. I do think that being able to learn from our mistakes is an essential step in growing up. I've read Wuthering Heights and I did not like it. I liked the writing and literary value but I disliked every one of the characters. Haha. What did you think of it? Hope you have a great week!

ReplyDeleteKayaking is on my bucket list. I read Wuthering Heights about 50 years ago so I don't remember very much. I saw a set of her books in a used bookstore. I am reading the last book in the Left Behind series.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the complete opposite - nothing at all on his burger! He thinks that's the most pure way to tell if it's good. I personally need a little something to balance the meat and bread.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Wuthering Heights. My daughter read it and then we watched the old movie and she said that the movie doesn't cover most of the book! Who knew. I did read Jane Eyre and really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, I had a Reader Digest version of Wuthering Height and I have found it a bit heavy reading for my taste. It just didn't fit my values and I quickly lost interest in the story.
ReplyDeleteI think I became an adult at about 20 years of age. I was told early that I was mature for my age. I just couldn't see why girls were so crazy about Elvis Presley and the Beatles. It just didn't made sense with me.
I never tried Instragram but had a very short encounter with Facebook. I just didn't like the sharing of some people and cancelled my account. I have a blog which has been neglected in recent months.
In June, 2 of my children have birthdays.
I like hamburger but haven't had any burger for years.
Take care. Hugs.
Julia
Oh my word, anything written by a Brontë gets ten thumbs up from me! Jane Eyre is my favorite book of all time, written by Charlotte, but WH by Emily is fabulous and wow what a movie, with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon (1939) is one one of my favorites too. IMHO there has never been a movie of Jane Eyre that really did it justice. OK so, I LOVE HAMBURGERS and have for my entire life and honestly, if I had to name my favorite food, that would probably be it. We have burgers frequently and we LOVE finding a good burger in a restaurant. On our recent trip to Pittsburgh we had wonderful burgers at Cheddar's in West Virginia, and also at PNC Park just before the game! Yum Yum Yum!!! I would love to visit Gronk's! Also, anything that deletes social media from your life is an instant super-positive! And "news" ... what's that? You can't believe anything you read anyway, hahaha ... except for this comment. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHey there....I'm trying to catch up on all the post since I've been on vaca....These are some good answers. The adult one is fun...as I know many people who never seem to become adults. LOL. I've not read the book....but it might be a good read for my this Winter. I would love to kayak, but I can't swim, so I dare not get in one. Have fun...and enjoy the weekend..
ReplyDeleteWe love burgers and grilled some Saturday. Our favorite restaurant to grab a burger is Gar's on the river here. They are so big I only can eat half. End up eating the other half the next day. I do like the move of Wuthering Heights. Janice
ReplyDeleteI have not read Wuthering Heights.. should I?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers. I haven't read wuthering heights.
ReplyDeleteI have not read that. What's your review? That is smart to cut out some social media. I try and limit it. Kayaking sounds fun! I hope you're having some good burgers!!
ReplyDeleteI have not read Wuthering Heights!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
