It is a Lavender, Vanilla and Cinnamon Hodgepodge

My parents gifted me this little planter. Woof!

Hello Friends, it is Wednesday. It is time for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

Click here to join the fun!

 1. What's your favorite room in your house and why?

I love our kitchen. We did the remodel  of our kitchen ourselves. It was a huge project and we were very happy with how it turned out.

I also enjoy cooking, baking and many times it seems we all gather and visit in the kitchen.

 2. What's something that will instantly annoy you?

The word F*** .... it gets right under my skin. It is used in everyday speech around my area ... way too much.

Call me old fashioned, I do not like cuss words.

 3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...will you celebrate? How do you like yours? If you're not cooking at home is there a favorite place you like to go for a burger? Did you ever work in a fast food  restaurant?

I do like hamburgers. My husband has a lot of fun making our burgers. He likes to play around with different toppings. I love a good mushroom and swiss burger.

We enjoy going to Gronk's in Superior, Wisconsin ... they make a great burger.

I never worked in fast food.

4. What are three scents you like?

Lavender

Vanilla

Cinnamon

 5. What do you miss most about being a kid?

My sister and I would play Cat School. We would collect all our barn cats in the feed room of the barn and hold school for our little kittens. We would teach them how to watch out for cars, trucks and tractors.

Our one big white cat named Fred, we would dress him up. He did not care what we did with him. He just wanted to be held. We would see how long we could hold Fred while doing our barn chores.

Below is a photo of our cat Penelope. She has not graduated from Cat School, Ha Ha, she is still in training.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I am loving this mint. I add it to my ice tea, it has a great flavor.

  1. I love the story about cat school - how fun and how cute!! I miss our Harvey but I promised the allergy doc we wouldn't replace him when he died. I had a calico cat, Missy, when I was growing up and she LOVED to ride in the basket of my bicycle - wherever I went, she went, too.

  2. That planter is SO CUTE! I am with you on the swear words. Just don't! The words are so commonplace now. It makes me sad. I am proudly old fashioned with regard to my word choices. I will not swear and I don't like to hear others do it. Also, cat school is so cute and creative. What great memories. I love it!

  3. Hmm not sure if you know that you don't own a cat, the cat owns you lol. I can't imagine being able to dress up a cat. That planter is cute and great choice of scents.

  4. Oh my gosh how fun to play with all the barn cats. That must bring back such great memories of your childhood. Hope all is going well. Hugs. Kris

  5. Cat school! I would have loved that too. My sister and I played a lot of school and that's a fun memory. That planter is so cute. I haven't heard of the mint variety but it sounds good. I don't swear either so I guess I'm old fashioned. I'm okay with that lol. I know this will sound 'sexist' but I especially don't like to hear women swear. Hope you have a great day!

  6. This Hodgepodge entry is a charming, heartfelt blend of nostalgia, personal anecdotes, and simple joys—just like the title suggests, a “Lavender, Vanilla and Cinnamon Hodgepodge.” The tone is warm and conversational, making it easy for readers to connect. From the kitchen remodel story to playful memories of “Cat School,” every answer reveals a slice of the author’s personality and values.

The aversion to cursing and love for homemade burgers adds authenticity. The mint-in-tea closing thought ties everything together with a refreshing note. Overall, it’s a delightful read full of personality and positive vibes.

  7. Ooh what an interesting mint. Sounds delish! I love the sound of cat school, that would be my dream! Penelope will graduate soon, I'm sure. ;) I love a mushroom (veggie) burger!

  8. Cursing is just vulgar and I can say that because in my young days I picked it up and it was a hard habit to break. Especially when you work and it’s part of the culture. People would say they can’t stop from swearing. When I started my family and continued on with childcare I was able to stop. It can be done.

Oh your Cat school sounds so adorable!
Have a good week, Carla. Be blessed.

  9. That planter is adorable. I love that about your kitchen. Yes, that is not a good word at all. Your mushroom and swiss burger sounds delicious. That is really cute about the cat school. Penelope is cute. Does she live indoors at all? I've never heard of that mint. Hope you enjoy your day.

  12. Loved reading your post today. Some things I knew about you, others did not. Always enjoying getting to know you more. I had the "F" word myself. As a kid I always enjoyed playing in our playhouse which my paternal grandmother created for us from one of her former chicken coops. She had a couch and table and chairs in there for us and all kinds of stuff to play house. It was the favorite place my cousins and I played in. Janice

  13. I love that photo with the kitty and the plants. Chocolate mint is my favorite. It makes great tea.
What did I love to do as a kid? Play in the woods with my brother. I have so many wonderful memories of our adventures.

  15. Visualizing your cat school is such a fun thing for my brain! Love that. Good for you for remodeling your own kitchen. Hope the last few days of May are exceptional! Take care!

  16. That is the cutest little planter, Carla. The kitchen is the heart of the home; I can see why it's your favorite room. Your Mushroom and Swiss burger sounds delicious. The eatery down the road used to make the best mushroom cheeseburgers, but they closed down. Your cat story when you were growing up is delightful. That's a cute photo of Penelope with the plants. Mint iced tea sounds so refreshing.

I do hope the June days are kind to you, Carla.

  17. Hey Carla....I am so late in making the rounds of my dear blogging friends post. Lots of cuteness around your place...I too enjoy all three of those scents.....and I too terribly dislike the F word. I think the kitchen is so very important in a home...no only because we have to eat, but because it is a place that brings the family all together. Lots of good conversations are had in the kitchen..

  19. The cat school answer has me giggling! How adorable! We have some Cajun vanilla and cinnamon sugar, so now I'm off to make some coffee and vanilla/cinnamon toast!

  20. Hahaha...I remember playing games with our animals, too. No one ever listened, but it sure was fun. That picture of Penelope and your comment about her being in training is funny. Are cats ever out of training? Ours never seemed to be! Ps. Love the puppy planter. How unique!! Happy Weekend!!
