Hello Friends,
It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. What's something you're curious about right now?
I am curious about new plants and how to go about growing them. My husband is researching a new way to stake tomato plants and I am curious what he comes up with.
2. If you could plan the perfect girl's weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda? Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months?
My sister and I have done a few getaways. They usually had a little shopping, exploring a new area, eating fun food and of course a lot of laughing.
I do not have anything like this on the calendar.
3. What's the most unique item in your refrigerator right now?
Asparagus ... Hee Hee ... I know. It is rare that we can find good fresh asparagus. We finally have.. so I purchased two bunches. YUM!
4. In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging?
I am struggling with TOS Click here for more info.
I am currently in my 7th week of PT to help with it. I am getting better. But golly it is no fun to have. I think when you are not able to do all that you use to be able to do, it can be hard to let go.
5. Do you collect anything? If so why that?
Plants ... if you say, "Carla, I have some (insert what ever plant) to give away, do you want any?" I will say yes. I love plants. I love growing plants and if there is a challenge, I try to win that challenge, but sometimes the weather beats me.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
For some reason our lilacs are not blooming at all? It has been very strange, last September the lilacs started to bloom. And it is not just our lilac, our neighbors as well. When I was getting my hair cut we were discussing this problem. The answer was "the lilac seem to be confused, just as the rest of the world."
I'm sorry about the TOS. That sounds miserable and I hope PT helps. And your lilacs! How sad to miss the blooms. I hope it works itself out or you find a solution to help. Enjoy all your gardening and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of TOS, it was interesting to read about. Gosh, I'm sorry you have it. Do you have any idea what caused it? Do they have a timeline when you will be fully recovered? Can you be completely recovered? do you need pain meds?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning. I hope with pain relief and PT your TOS will get better. Sorry you are dealing with that. I have Fibromyalgia and that causes neck and shoulder pain so I can relate. It does interfere with a lot of activities. Enjoy getting your garden ready for summer. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteOuch, I'm sorry to read that you are having TOS pain. Never heard of it but read about it through your link. I hope that you get relief. My son is trying to get me into his acupuncturist sp? while I'm visiting him to have her attack my plantar fasciitis. That is weird about the lilacs.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the TOS. I hope you're feeling better soon. I have times, and so does TG, where we have a lot of trouble with pain, numbness, and weakness (that's more his symptom than mine) in our arms. We are senior citizens; what do you expect? Hahahaha! I don't do plants but I have a pothos ivy in a pot on the counter in the kitchen that is slow-growing but seems happy. A friend gave me the cutting years ago -- actually she gave me a first cutting that would not cooperate enough even to go into dirt in a pot. So she gave me a second cutting and said, even you cannot kill this. And it's taken a long time but I think that plant is going to make it! I give it an ice cube or two every few days to water it, and it can see the sun. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about the TOS. I hope that PT helps. I do know the feeling of not being able to do what you once could (after I had Achilles tendon surgery) and it is HARD. I love plants as well though I don't think I like them as much as you (ha ha- you're plant goals!!). Please let us know what your husband comes up with as a tomato stake. I have a few tomato plants in the garden. I typically use tomato cages which works pretty well. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI’ve not heard of TOS and it’s not something I would want either. I had rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago and some of the symptoms reminded me of that. PT after surgery really helped me regain my strength. Now the other shoulder has a tear but I’m putting surgery off as long as I can. So far the PT helped and I do favor the left arm that it’s become habit.
ReplyDeleteI’m a big proponent of PT even though sometimes it can be rough. Prayers that your PT totally helps with no residual issues.
We have these free plant stands throughout our town - Take a Plant/Leaf a plant. You can take all the free plants you want as long as you “leaf” something. It could be plants, pots, potting soil or gardening tools etc. You’d love it!
Hope you figure that out. We have some things planted and still looking for Snap Peas. That sounds like some nice times wit your sister. Enjoy the asparagus. So sorry to hear about the issue you are having TOS. Hope the physical therapy will help you. ((Hugs)) Plants are nice to have around and grow. Sorry to hear that about your lilac's. Take Care.
ReplyDeleteLook at you go with the fresh little plants. Like you, plants of any kind are my love and my therapy in life. I can just see your garden now...full of freshness!! I've not ever heard of TOS but when I read about it, it seems to be very painful. My prayers for you Carla as you deal with this...Prayers that the PT will correct this and relieve any pain you are suffering from. Hope you all are having the sunshine we have today...it is so pretty outside..but temps will be climbing into the 90's today...not ready for that... Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon! This is my first visit to your blog, and what a delight you are! I had to look up TOS, and goodness, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I’m in week 21 of rehabbing a shoulder after surgery; the PT has been grueling! I have a newfound empathy for anyone dealing with shoulder pain. Tender hugs and prayers for healing.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are struggling with TOS. Thanks for the info about it. Your plants always look so nice. That will be interesting about the tomato plants. How strange about the lilacs? I've seen them blooming around here and I really miss mine!
ReplyDeleteHope you get better. I had to do PT once for a frozen shoulder. I love asparagus. How are the chicks doing? Janice
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel fine soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat is in my frig? A very very spicy sauce (Indonesian). Tofu and tempe which most people don't eat.
I'm with you on the 'want a plant? I'm always up for a new plant!
You always have so many different plants and flowers to put out. I hope you get some relief from your problems my friend! I read about it on the link. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh, your answer on the lilacs made me laugh, Carla. I'm so sorry you are having these health symptoms now. I do hope you feel better soon. Asparagus!.....probably my favorite veggie, and they are quite expensive at the store, so I don't get them as often as I'd like to. I enjoyed your hodgepodge today, my friend. Your answers are always simple and sincere.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful weekend, and feel better. : )
~Sheri
I was sorry to read that you are struggling with TOS, I do hope the PT will help you.
ReplyDeleteSending lots of positive healing thoughts.
Enjoy your asparagus.
All the best Jan
Oh, sorry to hear about the TOS. I hope it will resolve and you'll fully recover. Regarding the Lilacs, I noticed they were quick and done around here in the Madison area, because they started blooming during a heat wave. The Dwarf Korean Lilacs, however, are having a good year. They start blooming a little later, and for them (this year) that's good because they hit peak bloom as the cool spell landed. They are stunning currently here in the Madison area.
