Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
I have been busy planting our garden.
2. Do you like honey? What's something you make or enjoy that calls for honey?
I do like honey.
I made Asparagus tart the other evening for dinner. I made a homemade honey glaze to drizzle on it.
I enjoy honey in my tea and on my toast.
3. "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." Proverbs 16:24
What's a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?
The Bible is full of Proverbs, a whole book in fact, if that helps with your answer. The word proverb is defined as 'a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice'.
Guard your heart above all else, for everything you do flows from it.
Proverbs 4:23
4. Tell us about a 'sweet' moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace.
My husband and I have been wrestling with a big decision, that is rather stressful. It also came out of the blue. A sweet moment for me was how the sun was shining on our first spring flowers.
5. When you were a child, what did you want to 'be' when you grew up? How close did you come to that?
I wanted to be a wife and a mom. And I have been blessed to be just that.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
It is rhubarb season here in Wisconsin. I am sharing a new recipe I made.
I want to find some rhubarb and bake something with it. I don't see it in the grocery, but maybe a farm market will have some. I hope you find a solution to your dilemma that brings peace. Your tart looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteYour Proverbs verses is a good one! I don't care for asparagus but the tart looks good, nonetheless (I'd pick the veggies off of it and eat the crust!!). I pulled up my rhubarb plant last year because we weren't using the rhubarb from the plant and it was expanding hugely in the garden. I'm excited to see pics and hear stories from your garden this year :). Oh, by the way, I planted cucumber seeds in containers and every time I see the little plants, I think of you and your advice to me about growing them there :).
ReplyDeleteGood Morning sweet friend. The asparagus tart looks yummy. I like rhubarb with strawberries in pie. Hope find peace with what you are struggling with. Prayers sweet friend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are so pretty. Looking forward to seeing your garden this year. That tart looks delicious. I like the proverb you picked. Sorry about your stressful decision. Yes, you have been blessed and I wanted the same thing. Yum. Enjoy the rhubarb.
ReplyDeleteYum...Carla..that asparagus tart looks so good. We do not have rhubarb in our area which means I have never tasted it. I'm sure that I am missing out on something that taste really good.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to be a wife and a stay-at-home mom and even though divorce eventually entered in, I was still able to stay at home raising my boys when I had a daycare in my home.
ReplyDeleteI have never tasted rhubarb but my husband loves strawberry-rhubarb pie.
I’m praying for your situation. God knows and He hears you. May you find comfort.
I love that verse from Proverbs. It’s an important reminder to take special care to protect our hearts from anything unwholesome - easier said than done.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you can make your decision with peace soon. I love the Proverb you shared. Your honey drizzled asparagus tart sounds real good. Your rhubarb recipe choice sounds real good, too. I'll have to use some of the ripe rhubarb from my prolific bush soon. It's nice to read about the joy you have in your garden!
ReplyDeleteThat Asparagus tart looks so good!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry things have been stressful but it sounds like seeing the sun shining on your flowers helped.
Your asparagus tart looks wonderful. We use local honey. It is so good. Thanks for sharing your rhubarb recipe. I so love rhubarb. Work just keeps me busy. Closer to retirement though. Looking forward to it. Janice
ReplyDeleteWhat is the cute white flower?
ReplyDeleteAll of my comments are coming up anonymous today! It is Ginny, and I asked about the white flower in your last comment.
ReplyDeleteYour asparagus tart looks really good. I like honey on my toast too. Carla, I love the Proverb that is special to your heart. It's definitely one that speaks to me. And I loved hearing when you were a child, you wanted to be a wife and mom when you grew up. You are exceptional at both, my friend. On the big decision that you and your husband have been wrestling with, I do hope you get answers for that soon, and are guided in the right direction to ease your mind.

I always love Hodgepodge posts — they feel like a friendly chat over coffee! 😊 Your answers were so heartfelt and sweet (fitting for World Bee Day!). The honey-glazed asparagus tart sounds delicious — what a creative use of honey! I especially loved your chosen proverb from Proverbs 4:23 — such a powerful reminder about guarding our hearts and being mindful of what we let in.
ReplyDeleteThat moment you shared about the sunlight on the spring flowers during a stressful time really touched me. Sometimes it’s those quiet little signs that bring the most peace. And how beautiful that your childhood dream came true — being a wife and mom is a truly special calling. Thanks for sharing your joy!
