Episode #2 Tuscobia Trail

Hello Friends, it is time for 52 Weeks ~ Episode #2. My husband and I are trying to do a date each week. I plan to make a photo book of our 52 week adventures. For episode #2 we went for a hike at Tuscobia Trail in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The above photo was my favorite of our adventure. We hiked 2 miles.

This 74-mile trail on a former rail corridor is one of the longest rail trails in the state, running from Park Falls to the Wild Rivers State Trail just north of Rice Lake. The trail passes through part of the Flambeau River State Forest and the rugged wilderness of Wisconsin's Blue Hills. The trail connects seven small communities in Barron, Washburn, Sawyer and Price counties, each providing year-round accommodations and services.

The weather was nice winter weather... 20 degrees ABOVE zero.

We heard an owl on our hike.

The sound of the water trickling was very peaceful.

We stopped by for our favorite pizza on the way home.

  1. What a wonderful trail. The snow pics are great. Glad date #2 went well. We have a trail here in our county that is called the Bay to Bridge trail. It is 50 miles that goes primarily along the water, but does have some inland walking involved. I have walked a bit of it. I did not see Ernie in your pics. Did you take him with you this time? 8. Oh Carla, you make me laugh when you said the weather was nice - 20 degrees above zero. That's what we're getting now, and it's cold, but I love it. So many are already tired of this wintery season, and it just started up here. I love that little bird house. It's so dear that you and your husband have a date time each week. And what a cute picture of the two of you. I bet that Owl call was a neat sound along the way. That's a pretty picture of the trail at the end. And there's nothing like pizza on a cold wintery day.

  11. This is too cold for me to be out for very long since I'm still recuperating from surgery. I stay nice and cozy at home. You may enjoy all of that and I will just enjoy your photos and times out there! // Hugs and blessings to you Carla!

  13. Looks like a good adventure. I love your plan of 52 weeks, 52 adventures. We had 11.5 inches of snow in the last storm at home, so glad to not be there; as we leave Ohio for the winter. Yesterday it was -4 at home...........thus another reason we leave there in the winter. It's colder than normal here in SC, but no snow, no ice so now worries of slipping and falling when I go for my almost daily walks. Great pictures, looking forward to adventure #3 and more.

  14. I give you a lot of credit, walking in 20 degree weather. Although, based on your recent temps that must feel downright balmy!! It looks like a fun place to hike and anything that involves pizza is a win in my book!! Can't wait to hear about date #3!!
