The Weather and Hodgepodge

Hello Friends,

No snow alert today. How about a humidity alert. Wisconsin is hot and humid. We have nasty storms in the forecast for the next few day.

Enough about the weather, it is time for the hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

Click here to join the fun!

 1.  How would you define 'the good life'?

I am living the good life. I have a beautiful home, garden, family, and friends.

I have my health.

I have the freedoms that many do not have in our world.

I am thankful.

  2.  What's the most used app on your phone (and are you proud of that)?

Weather App

I can look at the weather App, not believe what I just read. Open the App again in hopes it changed. I do this often during the winter when the temperature is -25 and the wind chill is -50!! I am in hopes the forecast will change in the matter of seconds I close and open the App.  The next few days we are going to have stormy weather, once again I will be checking often.

3. 'Every rose has it's thorn', 'everything's coming up roses', 'looking through rose-colored glasses', 'it's no bed of roses' or 'stop and smell the roses'...which rose idiom best relates to something in your life currently. Explain.

I am going to say 'stop and smell the roses'. My husband and I are taking time each week to do something a bit different as a day date. We are going for one a week. So far we have done well, we have been creative. Some weeks the day date is very simple, with making dinner together. I will post soon on our progress.

 4. How do you feel about floral flavorings in food or drink (rose, hibiscus, elderflower, lavender)?

If we are talking tea, I love herbal teas and many have rose, hibiscus, elderflower and lavender in them.

I have enjoyed different main course meals and desserts with lavender.

5. Over the course of your life what have you probably spent more time pondering than anything else?

Pondering about my boys. Thinking about how they are doing in life now as grown men. And back when they were little, pondering on how well I was parenting them.

 6. Insert your own random thought here.

They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

  1. I think about the quote you mentioned a lot! I ponder the same thing about my kids. And we both said the weather app!! I like how you answered question 1. Have a great day!

  2. We've had a lot of rainy forecasts here too. And it did rain yesterday but apparently we need it still. The lake is funny because there are mountains around it which can make the skies do funny things. I think we never stop pondering the lives of our children. And now I have grandchildren so they're on the list too. Have a great day!

  3. Ha Ha Carla that is cute and funny but kinda true for us midwesterners with weather! We are supposed to get the sam weather as you. It is a strong line hitting you and us. Let's hope for the best. Have a good day. Hugs. Kris

  4. We have had so much rain in Alabama lately. We even had some nights where the low was in the 50's IN JUNE. That is unheard of and we have crazy weather here! I really love that quote!

  5. It's humid here, too. It feels nice after such a cold winter...but only because I can escape into the AC when I want! I'm with you regarding roses and pondering. Same thoughts exactly! I hope you have a nice week my friend!! xo

  6. Low 90’s but no humidity. I use the weather app too. I save my favorite places and Disneyland is one of them. I think as moms, we will always wonder about our kids. My kids are close and that warms my mother’s heart. Nice that you and your husband have dates!

  7. Beautiful photo, dear friend! It is very hot and humid here in Montreal right now! It is 26 Celsius with 73% humidity! This is 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit, and while this may not seem very hot, out temperatures can rise to over 100 degrees and that, plus the humidity and wildfires we always get in the summer, makes it very difficult to handle, especially for seniors and anyone living with health conditions such as heart, diabetes or asthma.

  8. Well we are at soul-withering humidity from now until November, hahaha! It will take you to your knees. You have to plan your day well in order to avoid the worst of it! I'm so thankful for our pool. We've been having impromptu pool parties (with eats, haha) for the grands and that is definitely living the good life!~ xoxo

  10. Sorry about your weather. Beautiful answer for #1. I do look at the weather each day on my phone. I'm glad you two have those dates. It sounds lovely. That is interesting about the lavender. I'm not even sure what that would taste like. I love your random thought. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  11. Hi Carla, I was double-checking if I commented here. I'm just not getting any updates. The app I tend to use the most in the summer is the Watch Duty that alerts us to fires, and the good old weather app. Have a wonderful Thursday.

  14. Every day I'm thankful for family. The older I get, the more I feel it. I'm ok with flavorings if they are the real thing. I make a strong hibiscus tea and add it to evening water.

  16. What an excellent quote to end with. I saw the opening picture and really thought you were going to get snow! Yikes! Glad you didn’t have snow. 😊 Oh, and I concur with your answer to question 1.
Stopping to smell the roses would be me as well. I try hard to stop and enjoy the roses, and I am one for slow living.
I am looking forward to reading about your date days and what you both have done. Sometimes we all get into a bit of a rut and do the same thing.
I check the weather app often to see what's happening in several different places across the nation. All of our kids are spread out across the United States. I also use my Instagram app a lot. I love looking at pretty pictures of home decor and nature photos.
Hope the storms were not bad.
    Happy Sunday!

  17. Carla: These are always fun to read. I'm with you on the weather app and not wanting to believe it/accept it in winter. We really experience the extremes in this part of the world, don't we? And sometimes within 24 hours!

  18. I ponder that stuff a lot too. I'm not a big fan of floral flavors but love the smells. I look at the weather app constantly too!
