Curious George and It is the Hodgepodge

I was curious about what I could see from the street, I asked my husband to drive down so I could get a closer look.

Hello Friends,

It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

 1. Do you think you're driven more by curiosity or comfort? Explain.

Curious I am, just like Curious George.

Last week we were on one of our 52ish adventures. As we drove along I could see a great Halloween display. I wanted to see more. My husband he goes along with my curious nature, even if it does not peak his curiosity, in which this display did not peak his curiosity. But he drove me down the side street so I could take photos and say

"Oh My That is A LOT!"

2. What non-food item is in your refrigerator or freezer?

My Kitchen Aid ice cream maker.

 3. Are you comfortable with silence? If you're home alone, do you like silence or do you need regular background noise? Do you seek out times and places to be silent? What's your favorite place to find silence/be silent?

I do enjoy silence.

When I am home alone I usually have classical or instrumental music playing in the background or I am listening to a podcast or book on audio.

I never, ever go on my walks with music or podcasts or anything in my ears. I love to listen to all the sounds around me.

The silence before and after a fresh snow is magical and is one of my favorite times to go out for a walk in the woods.

 4. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping...which skill would you most like to possess and how would you put that skill to use today?

Our son Sam is doing some work in his garage, he is insulating it, adding electrical outlets and more. I would love to be an electrician so I could help him out.

  5. Do you lean more towards being too needy or too independent? Which do you find harder to deal with in others?

I am more independent and can be too independent. I do not like to ask for help and usually feel like I can find a way to figure it all out.

I do have a hard time with those who can be too needy, especially if added drama comes with.

  6.  Insert your own random thought here.

I am addicted to this game. My friend L introduced it to me during a summer visit. I had to order the game for our family. My husband and I try to play a game each evening after dinner.

Shut the Box

  1. I will look into that game. I am always looking for a good game. I am the exact same way about walking or running outdoors. No headphones, no music- I listen to the sounds around me. I also like to walk in freshly fallen snow. I've never walked in the woods in the snow- I should try that this winter. Enjoyed your answers :).

  2. We have the game and love it too. I like to hear the sounds around me when I walk. We used to take a lot of snowy walks when we lived in NJ, but we don't get that kiind of snow here in SC. When my oldest daughter lived in TN her next door neighbor was 'the Halloween house'. Her little ones were alternately fascinated and afraid. Have a great day!

  3. This is the first I've ever heard of Shut the Box. Mahjong is very popular here, but I don't know how to play! These questions are super this week. I need to join in one of these days!

  4. Those are fantastic Halloween decorations!
I like a bit of background noise in the house but when I am out walking, I am the same. I like to hear what is going on around me.
That game sounds like a good one! Enjoy!

  5. I've never heard of the game Shut the Box. I'll have to look for it It might be a great game for the great grandkids. I play Mahjong and Free Cell on the computer, and I'm addicted to it too.
I don't have music playing when I work or drive, even on long drives. I like silence and a time to just be... The older I get, the more I like silence.
    Take care, Hugs

  9. Ugh.. hate the added drama. Walking around my neighborhood I do listen to a book but talking a hike or walking somewhere new and in the wilderness I too like to listen and observe.

  10. I am going to Amazon to find out more about the game! Wow, those decorations are so many that they can't even fit into one shot!! I do like the cute dog skeleton. It seems everyone walks with earbuds. But I think it can be dangerous. You cannot hear cars coming behind you, sirens, or if someone is calling your name. It kind of takes away part of the nature in the term nature walk.

  11. Oh boy...that is a little much for Halloween. :) Hats off to hubby for trying to help your curiosity thrive! I identify with you in #5. I'm going to have to make note of that game and I hope my kids don't have it so I can purchase it for a Christmas gift...

  12. I love that your hubby is supportive and sounds like a very fun duo you guys. I love silence too. I am very, very comfortable with no noise on. Some days ... I'll unplug the internet from the wall in the house and have alllll quiet.

The Halloween decorations are cute. I enjoy driving around and seeing the fun blowups.. Happy Thursday...I'm a little behind on my reading..

  14. Well now I have to find that game! We play Rummikub almost every night, but maybe it's time for something new! I'm like you, I usually have music on, but I do enjoy silence at times and that's awesome that Sam has DIY skills! It will save him thousands and he'll end up with a great custom home. Kudos to him!

  15. I love Halloween decor. TFS sharing. There is a house that use to decorate their Victorian home. Alas these past 2 years they have not. I did feature it a few years. I love stitching inn silence. Dont need all the noise all of the time. Janice

  16. Oh my, that is a lot!! I love driving around (and walking) to see the Halloween decor. How often do you make ice cream? I bet it's so good! I love silence at home but like a podcast on my walks. We used to have that game, I'll have to check if we still do.

  17. Oh yes, the quiet after a fresh snow is just magical! I love that!
I've had a Shut The Box game on my wishlist for quite some time but I haven't been willing to purchase. There's not many people around that will play games with me these days.
Hope you're having a great week!

  18. Interesting decorations. Wow, that is a lot. So many people here have these giant skeletons out. Adam and Gabby love to decorate for Halloween. I think it's nice that you listen to music. I understand about listening to nature on your walks. God for Sam doing that work. Independence is good. I haven't heard of that game.

  20. I love the decorations, really for any season. Independent, I'm good with silence. Altho while running I always listen to music. Boring tasks like weeding or housework, a good podcast is my go-to. I'll check that game out!

  21. How fun to see the Halloween decorations. I enjoy pumpkin patches and Halloween decor.
When I am home alone I enjoy the silence. Every once in a while I will listen to 60’s 70’s and 80’s music.
    Enjoy your fall fun!
