Minneapolis Institute of Art.. part 2

 Charles M. Russell is my favorite Western artist. I find his work to be fascinating.

We did visit the C.M. Russell Museum located in Great Falls, Montana a few years ago.

I highly recommend visiting.

 We enjoyed a full day visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

If traveling to Minneapolis we recommend a visit to the museum. It is well done. 

 

 I am sharing a few of the works that I enjoyed. I will say a few, because I loved so many of the works that are on display, it was hard to decide what to share on The River.

Fra Angelica

My son Atticus studied Fra Angelico his 10th grade year in art class.  

It was fun to see his work on display.

 I was not able to capture the tear in this young ladies eye, but in person this work is very moving. It tells the story of Lucretia. She is the wife of a Roman nobleman, Lucretia was known for her loyalty and virtue. She was raped by Sextus Tarquinius, the son of the ruling tyrant. Lucretia revealed the crime to her husband and father, and in their presence, took her own life. She chose death in order to prevent dishonor, at a time and place when a woman's perceived virtue was more valuable than her life.

 I love the storm in this work.

It is One, Two, Three Strikes You Are Out!

 Hello Everyone.. thank you for the well wishes for my son's injury, my bug bites and the storm damage to our area. Thank you, thank you.

Our little getaway was a trip to the city.

My youngest son is a New York Yankee fan.. DJ LeMahieu his is favorite player.

A perfect night for baseball!

 We enjoyed a fun night of baseball. Home-runs, RBI's, amazing catches and DJ played at first base. We had seats on the first base side. Atticus just loved it!

Oh and it was $1.00 Hot Dog Night!

We had a fun night watching the game.

On The Road Friday ~ Brickmania, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Are you ready to build?

Today we are heading to the ultimate destination for the LEGO enthusiast!

Brickmania, Minneapolis, Minnesota

 Brickmania Toyworks is located in an warehouse on the Northeast side of Minneapolis. The warehouse has its own history. During WWII  it was a top secret Naval Facility that manufactured the 5 inch guns for the battleships.

Today inside you will find the world's largest K'nex ball machine, massive LEGO train displays and historic displays created by the Brickmania team.

 Looking at the wall, the LEGO'S  are organized by color and brick size!

There are several tables full of LEGO'S. You can sit and build for as long as you like.

Brickmania is a fun place to go for all ages. If you have a LEGO fan in your family, they will be blown away by all the designs. Our boys picked up a few new tricks to do with building with LEGO while looking at the displays.

Brickmania also has a store located in the Mall of America.

Why am I posting these photo's ? My husband is a big Packer fan. The Packers are playing this weekend. We all know the soap opera about the Vikings.

A Christmas Carol

We had the opportunity to see the Christmas Carol at the Guthrie in Minneapolis, MN.
We went with Mr.Smith's class, Sam and Atticus' teacher. It was a fantastic production and the kids enjoyed it. It is amazing to me that with all the politically correct stuff going around, that A Christmas Carol can still pack the house. I say "God Bless".
A few fun facts.
A Christmas Carol was an instant success when published in 1843 selling more than 6,000 copies
The book has never been out of print in 167 years
The book, after being released in December 1843, was already adapted for the stage by January 1844
Dickens gave hundreds of public readings in his lifetime, including 127 performances of A Christmas Carol
