Gobble - Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving
A fun paper craft to do this week with your kids, grandchildren and your friends.
Gobble ~ Gobble

Gather:
Egg Carton
Card Stock
Construction Paper
Feathers
Glue
Scissors

Using the card stock as your bottom paper, cut a body shape of a turkey out and glue on card stock. Cut two of the egg carton out and shape into eyes. Cut out small pieces of paper to highlight the inside of your eyes.
Cut out of construction paper all the other parts of the turkey. The feathers, the feet, the waddle and the beak.
Glue and create your turkey as you like.

I created this idea to do with our Sunday School class this week. We teach 2nd and 3rd grade. They loved it.
Another idea, is to add some thankful thoughts to your feathers.

You would not want to eat me.  I am too cute.
Happy Thanksgiving!

God Will Be With Me in the Hard Times

I am the Ground
 I am the ground.
The plow cuts deep, again and again and again!
It cuts away my roots, my desires to be altogether,
my desires to look good.
It turns me over, inside out, till I am a mess of crumbly soil.

The rains come; seed are planted.
I miss the lovely pasture I used to be,
with calves frolicking in the sunshine,
butting heads, coming to me for nourishment.
Here I lie, useless and alone - except for this farmer who constantly runs over me with his tractor, seeding, cultivating.
I am changing.

I finally recognize the farmer.
Lord, do with me as you choose, for I belong to you.
Plant the seeds, cultivate out the weeds,
send the sunshine and rain.
Oh Lord of the harvest, may I yield abundantly for you
whatever crop you choose.

Amen

I thought I was lost...

"Where to now?"
He smiles and puts a hand around your shoulder. As He does so, you see the scar on his wrist left by the nail long ago. He says "Where do you want to go?"
You reply, "Well, I thought I was lost..."
And He says, "That is one of the good things! There are many roads to take. Some lead home, and some lead to new adventures. But whichever road you take, I will go with you. I will always be available to encourage you and care for you. That is what friends do. And in the end, you will find that all roads lead to the same place. You and I will go to a wonderful home I have prepared for you. But that is in the future. Until, then, you have adventures to experience and wisdom to learn. Until then, you have one day after another, each one offering its own gift and its own surprise. Come on, walk with me."

Lee Strobel

As they say, the adventure of a lifetime begins with one step. Which step will you take today?

As you hold these candies....

This year our boys were given a nice packet after Christmas Eve Service at our church. Inside was a candy cane, a small book featuring the Christmas story, a game book, some more candy and M&M's with the following card attached.

As you hold these candies in your hand and turn them, you will see, the M becomes a W, an E and then a 3.
They tell the Christmas story; it's one I am sure you know.
It took place in  a stable a long, long time ago.
The E is for the East where the star shone so bright.
The M is for the Manger where baby Jesus slept that night.
The 3 is for the wise men bearing gifts when they came.
W is for Worship, Hallelujah, Praise His Name.
So, as you eat these candies or share with your friends,
remember the meaning of Christmas, it is a love story that never ends.

It is a love story that never ends!

Funny on Sunday

An exhausted looking Delvin dragged himself in to the doctor's office. "Doctor, there are dogs all over my neighborhood. They bark all day and all night, and I can't get a wink of sleep."

"I have good news for you," the doctor answered, rummaging through a drawer full of sample medications. "Here are some new sleeping pills that work like a dream. A few of these and your trouble will be over."

"Great," Delvin answered, "I will try anything. Let's give it a shot."

A few weeks later Delvin returned, looking worse than ever. "Doc, your plan is no good. I'm more tired than before!"

"I do not understand how it can be?" that doctor said. "Those are the strongest pills on the market!"

"That may be true," answered Delvin wearily, "but I'm still up all night chasing those dogs and when I finally catch one it is hard getting him to swallow the pill!"

Happy Sunday!

Funny On Sunday

The man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke,' and turns to the ostrich, 'What's
yours?' 'I'll have the same,' says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with
the order 'That will be $9.40 please,' and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the
exact change for payment. The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man
says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke.' The ostrich says, 'I'll have the same.' Again the man
reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change. This becomes routine until the two
enter again. 'The usual?' asks the waitress. 'No, this is Friday so I will have a steak, baked
potato and a salad,' says the man. 'Same,' says the ostrich. Shortly the waitress brings the
order and says, 'That will be $32.62.' Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his
pocket and places it on the table. The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer.
'Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your
pocket every time? 'Well,' says the man, 'several years ago I was cleaning the attic I found
an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first
wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and
the right amount of money would always be there.' 'That's brilliant!' says the waitress.
'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as
you want for as long as you live!' 'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls
Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man.. The waitress asks, 'What's with
the ostrich?' The man sighs... pauses and answers, 'My second wish was for a chick with
long legs and who agrees with everything I say.'

Have a Happy Sunday!

Funny on Sunday

Funny on Sunday
7 year old Ellen was being punished one night by not being allowed to eat with the family. Instead, she was made to eat dinner alone at a small table in the corner of the dinning room. The rest of the family set about ignoring her completely until they heard her saying grace over her solitary supper.

"I thank Thee, Lord, for preparing a table before me in the presence of mine enemies."

Funny on Sunday

A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened. Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00. When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to God, USA. They decided to send it to the President. The President was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill. He thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy. The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note to God, which read: Dear God, Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington, D.C. and those son of a guns took $95.00 in taxes.

Psalm 23:1-2 TLB

Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams.
