Our neighbor had this mailbox out for the trash.
I ran out and made it mine.
A fun idea was swimming in my mind.
"How about a mailbox out at the community gardens?"
A little spray paint and permanent markers.
My husband helped me put my mailbox up.
"You've Got Mail"
I named my garden, The Little Garden That Could.
One of my favorite things about gardening out at the community gardens is meeting all the gardeners. Last week Saturday we went out to work. One of our gardening neighbors came over to ask us some questions about bugs. We talked about remedies for bugs and deer. I mentioned my Keep the Deer Out recipe Click here for recipe
The couple asked if I would share the recipe. The husband said to me"Just leave it in your mailbox with the flag up, we will know to look for it"
I also received a fun little note from a friend in my mailbox, wishing me a great garden season.
One man's trash has indeed become a treasure. The Little Garden That Could, has already made me smile.
Love it! That was such a clever idea, Carla!! I hope The Little Garden That Could receives lots of fan mail. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile too. And reminded me of a story my mom read to me as a child...;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great re use of someone's trash! Love this idea!!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Your post jogged a memory for me. At the home we shared with mother, the home sat about 600 feet from the street. The previous owner had planted MANY flowers/plants at the street and we took an old mailbox and installed it there to keep small gardening tools, hand wipes etc. in. It saved us many trips back to the house down that long drive!!!!! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! It reminds me of the one in Little Women that Laurie left notes and even an orange for Jo. Have fun! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea.

You are clever, Carla. A brilliant idea. Maybe you'll find Tom Hanks hiding in there one day, up to his tricks.

Carla, an excellent idea for communication with your fellow gardeners. Don't know about you, but I often forget to take a pair of snippers out to the garden. Maybe that could be a storage place for snippers, a few "Walmart" bags, and even a roll of twine. An emergency gardening kit, as such. Available for those who are forgetful. Have a great weekend in the garden. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

What an amazing thing to do. I love the way something so simple can be used to such great effect. Have a wonderful weekend xx
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! When my daughter was little, she had a real playhouse, and that was one of thing she wanted. I painted a whimsical scene on it for her, and she had many years of fun with her and I exchanging letters. xoox Su
