Blue Moon Greetings

The moon belongs to everyone, the best things in life are free.

A blue moon is an additional full moon that appears in a subdivision of a year, either the third of four full moons in a season or, a second full moon in a month of the common calendar.
The phrase has nothing to do with the actual color of the moon, although a literal "blue moon" (the moon appearing with a tinge of blue) may occur in certain atmospheric conditions; e.g., when there are volcanic eruptions or when exceptionally large fires leave particles in the atmosphere. This phenomenon is specific to calendars. Lunar calendars like the Indian national calendar always have one full moon a month.


Early this summer, we enjoyed a moon walk with Judy and Mr. Cranberry of Cranberry Morning 

Moon walks.
Taking a drive up to the highest point of the area you live.
Boat rides out on a lake.
All are ideas of ways to take in the beauty of the moon.

I love to cross country ski during a full moon. With the snow twinkling like diamonds, the moon glowing and  me sliding along the snow with my skis.

    Carla, my husband did notice the blue moon last night. Rain, hot coffee, scented candles, trees.....these are all a few of my favorite things too.

    Beautiful! Love your moon shot. Yes, I am very aware of the moon and where it is in it's cycle. It's a little harder to keep track of it during the winter months when it is overcast all the time.

    I didn't realize it would be 2018 until it happens again, interesting! You have such a great picture of the moon.... My moon photo's never seem to turn out so I have to leave my camera inside at night and just take in the beauty.
