Hello Friends,
If you have been reading The River for some time, you know about Marv. Marv is 87 years old and is a dear family friend.
He also is my gardening mentor. He is full of garden wisdom.
We stopped in to visit him on Thursday and check out his new car.
He asked if we checked out the new big grocery in Eau Claire, Woodman's?
Yes, we had. It is a fun grocery store and has so much variety compared to our little grocery stores.
Marv shared, "After I bought the car, I needed to take a ride. I decided to head to Eau Claire and check out Woodman's!"
Eau Claire is our big city and it takes about 45 minutes to get to from Cameron.
I love it! 87 years young and full of adventure!
I want to be just like Marv at age 87!
When we first visited Woodman's we were in the store for two and half hours. It is so much fun!
Marv told us he plans to go back , he did not get through the entire store on his first visit.
☺
Speaking of adventure .... I am off on my own adventure.
I will be back to blog land soon.
Have a great week!
♥
Carla
I hope you have a fun adventure this week! Will it include feats of daring? (like when you hung out over high buildings?) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your adventure. Woodman's sounds like my kind of store. I love Marv!

ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fun adventure,, and show us when you get back. This is a new one on me, I have never heard of this store! And I consider myself to have a masters in shopping too. What makes it so much fun? They are building a Wegmans here and it will open this fall;I am excited about that. Your friend is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHe sure knows how to live...a brand new car and an adventure. Good for him! Enjoy your own adventure.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fascinating store. Happy adventuring!!
ReplyDeleteMarv really does sound full of fun.

All the best Jan
I love the friendship that you have with Marv, you have to let him know he's a bit famous here and perhaps he'd like to do a guest post? He sounds great! BTW I hope you have an amazing adventure! See you when you're back :) xo
ReplyDeleteLOL Carla. Marv sounds like a great guy. I have been in a Woodsman and they are amazing. See you do not have to climb mount Everest to have adventure just go to the grocery store!!!! I hope I am like Marv too if I live that long. He sounds young at heart and still so full of life. You go Marv.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,
Kris
We have had Woodman's in Madison for many years. It is an amazing store. Can't believe that there is a grocery item that you could NOT find in their stores. They are so big, I absolutely believe you were in there for 2.5 hours. Their prices are also quite good. Enjoy!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat story, my Dad bout a new car when he was 89!

Marv sounds like my kind of guy - my mom is 87 but not nearly as adventurous! Have fun touring the new grocers! Stop by and visit when you get back (lol) I have certainly enjoyed my time here browsing your blog and will sign up to follow along...
ReplyDeleteYour friendship with your neighbor Marv, reminds me of a dear neighbor we had many years ago who is still a dear friend to us. He just turned 95 this past week! He still drives and has the most amazing outlook and disposition on life. He believes there is nothing a smile can't fix, and he really lives it. Isn't it wonderful to have these kind of people in our lives, and yes I do hope once I reach that age, that I will still be living life large :) Hugs to you today, and enjoy your adventure!
ReplyDeleteMarv is an inspiration for sure! I love that your family is able to enjoy time with him :)
ReplyDeleteWe stop at Woodman's on occasion during our LaCrosse shopping trips. To this day, it usually takes me an hour just because it's so big and all the goodies I can't get in Viroqua!
Hope you are having tons of fun on your adventure :) :)
Marv is a rock star! I've never heard of Woodman's....there must not be any here in the South.
ReplyDeleteWe like some of the olives available at Woodman's!! :-). Have a great adventure, Carla. 💕🌿

ReplyDeleteI'm so curious about what is so super special about a huge store and makes it unique? Though I remember Effigy Mounds quite well from our day trip down The Big River and back up the Wisconsin side. One thing for sure the long steep climb to the top and the spectacular views from there...:)
DeleteI never heard of Woodmans but it sure sounds very special. And your friend sounds like a gem.
ReplyDeleteI love Woodmans! Ours is in LaCrosse (well, technically, Onalaska), which is about 45 minutes away from us. So many varieties of just about everything. We actually went yesterday and spent a long time perusing all the different craft beers, choosing some special ones to try. And then we got cheeses, some Asian ingredients and other fun stuff we can't get near us.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to have a friend and mentor like Marv!
I don't know about Marv since I'm fairly new to your blog, but you can bet I like him already :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of that store being from the northeast, but just the fact that they're open 24 hours makes them rock stars in my book.
Enjoy your adventure!
It's always nice to have a new store in town. Marv sounds wonderful, and he sure has a lot of energy for 87! I can't wait to hear about your adventure, Carla! Sounds intriguing. :)
