Hello, it is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. What's changed in your life, home, or community since your last birthday?
Homes for sale ... two of our neighbors have moved in the last four months.
2. September is Classical Music Month. Do you like/listen to classical music? If so what's a favorite piece and/or who is a favorite composer?
Yes, I love classical music. Yes, I listen daily to classical music.
My favorite piece .... The Four Seasons (Vivaldi)
My favorite composer .... John Williams.
3. Besides The Bible, what's a book that has positively changed your life, relationships, career, or perspective? How so?
Beyond Boundaries
Dr. John Townsend
How do you know you’re ready to trust again … and what does it take to
be ready? Painful relationships violate our trust, causing us to close
our hearts. But to experience the freedom and love God designed us for,
we eventually have to take another risk. In this breakthrough book,
bestselling author Dr. John Townsend takes you beyond the pain of the
past to discover how to re-enter a life of intimate relationships.
Whether you’re trying to restore a current relationship or begin a new
one, Townsend gives practical tools for establishing trust and finding
the intimacy you long for. Beyond Boundaries will help you reinstate
closeness with someone who broke your trust; discern when true change
has occurred; reestablish appropriate connections in strained
relationships; create a safe environment that helps you trust; and
restore former relationships to a healthy dynamic. You can move past
relational pain to trust again. Beyond Boundaries will show you how.
4. I read (here) these ten hobbies will make you smarter...play
a musical instrument, read voraciously, meditate regularly, work out
your brain (puzzles, sudoku, board games, etc), exercise often, learn a
new language, write your feelings down (blog, journal, just write),
travel to new places, cook different kinds of meals, participate in
sports actively
Are any on this list your current hobbies? Which hobby on the list would you be most inclined to try?
My current hobbies .... work puzzles, exercise often, blogging, cooking different meals.
I have been trying to learn a new language, I had to jump off the learning German bus during the garden season. Hope to hop back on in November.

We made our first Apple Crisp of the Autumn season Sunday. Yummy!
Do you have a twist to the traditional Apple Crisp recipe?
I'm hoping the weather is good this weekend and we can go apple picking. I love an apple crisp with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on top-yum! My hubs enjoys trap shooting. I have never tried it. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteFun Hodgepodge, Carla. Even your snowstorm, snowballs, falling on ice, sliding in the ditch, dark days, darker nights, getting stuck in a snowbank, freezing, scraping icy windshields, tracking snow indoors, wearing too much clothing, kind of answer. :-))) (Love ya anyway)
ReplyDeleteApple crisp..yum!! I liked reading about the hobbies that make you smarter!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I need to read that book. Thanks for posting it. :) YES! Slow computers...I should have thought of that one. And now, I am going to need some apple crisp. We might need a Hodgepodge rule- no posting about food unless you're bringing me some. LOL Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAgreed...slow computer response tries my patience every day. Since moving out of the city to a small mountain town we have about zero bandwidth. It is so frustrating, but the mountain scenery and cool air help calm me down. have a good week.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

I have never made Apple Crisp, but just the name sounds yummy. Love your picture of mums, your yard must be beautiful now. We are a tennis family. Plus Plus does kind of follow one football team.
ReplyDeleteWe did Cross Country Skiing years ago. I enjoyed it! We actually took lessons in Wisconsin. We lived in Illinois at the time. I like your answer for #6. Yum on the apple crisp!
ReplyDeleteI always love reading your answers, Carla, and I find Joyce's questions to be so intriguing. How does she come up with them week after week? I answer along in my head, nod at some of your answers (as I agree or I share the same thoughts). I have often thought of linking up...maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteYum! The first apple crisp of the season? I can't wait - and they say the apple season will be super short for us because of the dry conditions! Oh and I'd love to teach the girls cross country skiing!
ReplyDeleteI too loved xcountry till my knee went bad. Getting up after falling was the problem...:)
DeleteEnjoyed reading your answers. I too hate slow computers and that definitely tries my patience but I do usually try and work through solutions.
ReplyDeleteI love apple crisp. Since I can't have butter I have a vegan recipe that is delish. I think I am going to ask my daughter to make me one :) German sounds fun to learn. Have a great rest of the week my friend.
ReplyDeleteLove the hodgepodge posts......I've never thought of learning a foreign language. I do love taking classes tho.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers! I didn't even need to read the rest, but thank you for posting the photo. And alles gut with your Deutsch.
ReplyDeleteI read alot, enjoy scrabble/crosswords, try and exercise regularly and have lots of crafty hobbies.
ReplyDeleteI miss working on puzzles! Do you cats try to hide pieces from you?
ReplyDeleteI've not been watching the news closely lately to know much about the National Anthem brouha, but I have heard enough to know that I agree with your answer.
Lovely post - and such a wonderful shot.
ReplyDeleteJust love your first photo ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
