Joy List Monday and a Meals on Wheels Story

Joy List Monday
 ♥ a weekly ritual ♥

a reminder to stop and pay attention to the little beauties and graces that make life magical
and to set aside time for gratitude each day

♥ attending the Eau Claire Garden Expo with my husband on Saturday

♥ forcing bulbs ... I planted 5 daffodil bubs on Sunday

♥ Fish -n- Chips made by my husband
♥ watching a movie with Gregory Peck staring in it

♥ kitty cat snuggles

I deliver Meals on Wheels, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off during the month.

The past week that I worked I had a new delivery. The participant has a lovely home and she decorates the outside and inside of her home beautifully. As I take the meal to her, she has her china plate, silver ware, napkin and wine glass all ready to place the meal on.
Our meals come prepared in a container that you could easily eat the meal out of, most participants do just that.
I just smiled at her elegance, of placing the food on the plate and pouring her milk in the wine glass. She struggles with Parkinson's disease, she asks me for help.  I help get her set up for her lunch. It just makes me smile that she is so classy. She is always dressed up, earrings and bracelets.

I just love her attitude.

  1. A garden expo in the winter! What fun!! And you have a husband who cooks, how wonderful! I love fish and chips. Our church does Meals On Wheels. You are doing such an important thing!! Jesus tells us to take care of the poor and the old. That old Lady is doing good! Well, I only assume she is a senior. Many seniors don't even bother to get dressed anymore. She must be delightful.

I wonder if this photo of the cyclist is doctored because, he's dress for summer and there're snow on the ground. lol.

  4. What a neat lady! My hubby loves fish and chips, I just eat the chips now. Thank you very much!! ;) Does he bake or deep fry them? I noticed some mini daffodils pushing up yesterday. I want to tell them it's too early but I'm also very excited about them. You do love your Gregory Peck and I can't blame you!

  7. Every bit of this made me smile!
I imagine that your lovely participant in the Meals on Wheels would be just like my grandma if she were still with us today. I am sure that she enjoys the meal you bring :)

  8. My mom has Parkinson's, she is in a nursing home after being home until the medical care she required could only be offered in a hospital setting. The dignity and joy you are delivering to this woman along with her meal is amazing. I know how this story concludes and every moment spent at home with wine glasses and china is a gift. You are a wonderful person, Carla. But I already knew that. xo
