The Unloved Chair

My parents bought this chair at an auction for $1.00. I fell in love with it right when I saw it.

With a good washing. Some paint. And a handy husband .. take a peek at this $1.00 chair.

A white wicker chair with a pale yellow upholstered seat.

A good washing and paint.

Starting to look better, but we need to do something about that pale yellow!

We took this project on! We can do it!
Hey, we are only professionals.

 Using upholstery tacks.

All set up to sit in and perfect timing as well. We had a dinner party that weekend.

I was all excited to share my story about the unloved chair.

How about you, any stories about something you gave some tender loving care?

  1. Wow, Carla, you sure did a great job on the chair. I bet you you'd get a lot more than a $1.00 for it now. It looks beautiful.

  4. I love when something has a story and gets reloved, wouldn’t it be interesting to know the chairs story before it came to your parents as well. It’s certainly looking good now xx

  9. What a difference a little paint and upholstery made. No, I haven't worked on anything like that lately. Projects like that are fun though. I've just read and commented on your last three posts. Sorry I can't keep up anymore. :)

  11. Well done! There have been similar projects I have wished I could tackle, but the upholstery part intimidates me so much. Maybe next time I will not get scared off so easily.

  15. What a great shape your no longer unloved chair has! This is my favorite way of recycling, saving something from maybe ending up at the dump. Y'all did a great job and I love your choice of fabric.

We spotted a large triple mirror sitting on the floor at GW, the ends attached with brass strips, had to have been on a dresser. Beautiful wood and made in America. It has a darling shell motif carved in the top center reminding me of Georgian style. It was $14, less senior discount, and it has become what to me is a fabulous piece hung on my bedroom wall, the pieces separated. RH started to remove the heavy brass metal strips that attached them but I asked him to leave them as they are aged so pretty.

I get pleasure from it every time I see it.

You got quite a deal for only $1 and it looks great after you fixed it up.
