Kettle Moraine State Forest Wisconsin - Southern Unit |
Joy List Monday
♥ a weekly ritual ♥
a reminder to stop and pay attention to the little beauties and graces that make life
magical and to set aside time for gratitude each day
♥ warm apple crisp
♥ continuing to create flower bouquets .. no kill frost as of yet here in Northwest Wisconsin
♥ continuing to listen to baseball as the playoffs are here
♥ pumpkins .. I love pumpkins and my son Atticus does too. We like all shapes and sizes. We did our pumpkin shopping together.
♥ creating a jack o lantern for our friend Marv .. a tradition we started long ago. We carve him a jack o lantern every October and deliver it to him. He enjoys lighting it each evening.
When we visited him this week, he laughed with joy seeing that we brought with us the jack o lantern. He said "that tonight when I have my nightly beer I will tip my beer to that ol' jack o lantern and say here is to you."
Oh the humor of our 91 year old friend!
Have a blessed new week my friends.
Oh my goodness, I love Marv!! He sounds like the BEST! Fall is full of joy lists.
ReplyDeleteI kike your Joy List.
ReplyDeleteMarv must stand for Marvelous. He sounds like the kind of neighbour I would like to have. I'm glad you and Atticus carved him a pumpkin. You probably made his day very special.
Hugs, Julia
That path at Kettle Moraine Park looks like a lovely one to walk on. 😊
ReplyDeleteYou and your son have a kind heart looking in on that dear gentlemen, Marv.
Your Joy list is beautiful, just as YOU are!
Have a beautiful day ♡
How wonderful that you are doing this for your friend!! I know it brings so much joy into his life. I bet there are so many treasures along this trail; have you walked it?.
ReplyDeleteOh Carla I love to hear about Marv. What a special friend and so with it in his 90's that is awesome. I bet he really loved getting a nice Jack o Lantern from you guys and I know he will enjoy it each evening. What a sweet gift to him. Carla your heart is so big and so caring and giving. Love that about you. Halloween will be here soon. We have not had a frost either and I am so happy. My flowers were done but at least we are hoping to get the cement in for the garage floor before we get a frost. Demolition of the old garage this week. Yay finally. Have a super great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Always good to hear about Marv and your little kindnesses.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy making your bouquets as long as you can! It looks like a frost is coming (just in time for my birthday - boo!) But I suppose pumpkins and apple crisp make up for it a little. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that you bring a pumpkin to Marv. We are heading to the apple orchards today to get some apples. We don't plan on buying a pumpkin this year.
ReplyDeleteI love your list and your pumpkin story. Marv is quite a character. I always love reading your stories about your interactions. What a great tradition! I bet it means the world to him...xo
ReplyDeleteI love our Wisconsin Octobers!!!!! Your photo on the trail is so lovely . I'll be glad when the ticks and their likelihood of finding us is gone!
ReplyDeleteOh I love seeing that trail in the woods! I can close my eyes and imagine being there! I love pumpkins too and it's fun to see all the shapes and sizes! Happy Fall!
ReplyDeleteMarv is a hoot. Glad you were able to brighten his day with a jack o lantern.
ReplyDeleteOur growing season came to an end last night, and I am ok with that. I am ready for the seasons to change.
I always enjoy hearing about Marv :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
