Hello Friends,
We recently took a trip to Wausau, Wisconsin. The birthplace of my husband and where he lived for the early days of his childhood. He attended church and school at the above church.
My husband wanted to share with me Historic Wausau. I am so thankful that many of the beautiful churches have been preserved.
I call this one the "Gingerbread Church".
When they came to the little house they saw that it was built of bread and covered with cakes with windows of clear sugar.

ReplyDeleteThe church your hubby attended growing up is a classic and I like the large round window, it looks like it is stained glass. I grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and would like to visit there.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of yellow and blue umbrella suspended from overhead wires. It must be a tribute to the Ukraine.

ReplyDeleteThe churches are just beautiful. Sure don't see any like that around here. I've wanted to do a post on several of the little, very old, churches here...maybe one day. Carla your recipe for stuffed zucchihi looks delicious, and easy to make. I'v just never heard of a round zucchini. Lots of things I want to try in the garden next year.
ReplyDeleteCarla, what a nice trip you had visiting your husband's birthplace. I sometimes go to the town I grew up at, as my brothers and sister are still there. I like the turquoise lantern.....and those umbrellas hanging! The Mary Oliver quote spoke to my heart too.

Absolutely stunning! I love old churches. I actually wanted to make a book churches at one point in my life. Love the churches in Chicago, Wisconsin and in the UK. I have churches on my Pinterest account. (they are not mine)

ReplyDeleteWe live in an area that was settled long ago and have some fabulous churches. Most of them are not as grand as this one, they're simple and wooden. In fact, the church we belong to was dismantled during the Revolutionary War by the British and used as a barn for their horses. It's since been put back together! haha!!
