Hello April and It is the Hodgepodge!

Hello April,

It is the Hodgepodge!

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

Click here to join the fun!

 1. What's a talent you wish you had?

I wish I had the gift of music, I cannot sing or play any instrument or keep a beat to be  honest about it. I am a mess... but I love music.

2. In one word, what's your state of mind right now?

HAPPY

 3. What's the next major purchase you need to make? Will it happen this month? This year?

One may not think a vacuum cleaner as a major purchase, but it takes some research on what one to purchase. Yes, we will be purchasing a new vacuum cleaner this week.

Ernie + Penenlope + Me = a lot of hair to vacuum up. I shed as much as the dog and cat in the Spring. Ha Ha!!!

4. Tuesday (April 2nd) was National PB and J Day...did you celebrate? No

Is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich something you eat weekly or more? No, but my husband loves PB&J sandwich's and he eats them weekly.

What's your favorite kind of jelly? Strawberry

5. Are you easily intimidated? Who or what intimidates you?

I do not want to make this a looooong story... so I will share the short version.

Who intimidates me... are people HIGH on drugs. During the summer of 2023 our neighbor across they way got hooked up with a fella, that ended up on drugs. He started to bother me while I was out working in my garden. His eyes would be popping out of his face, he was sweating and acting very strange. Needless to say, he intimidated me BIG TIME!!!  There is more to this story that I will share another day.

I am thankful for my husband, family and friends who stepped in and helped me during this time... until the fella was escorted out of my neighborhood.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

  1. Oh, I wish I could sing! I'm so glad people stepped in and helped you get rid of the druggy, how scary. Going to the grocery store feels like a major purchase lately, lol.

  2. I have a built in vacuum system which I like very much and I also have a Dyson cordless vacuum for the entrance from the garage that my husband bought when I was away. It's not really needed but he thought so. lol...

My husband also love peanut butter sandwiches, with or without jelly.

I'm glad that the drugged neighbour was escorted out of your neighbourhood. It sounds like a very unpleasant experience.

Have a happy and safe spring.
    Hugs,
    Julia

  3. Oh man, people on drugs are so scary and 'out of their minds'. I'm glad you received the help you needed and that he's out of your neighborhood. A vacuum is a big deal. Hope you find one that suits your needs! Happy April to you!!

  4. At least you are able to enjoy music and are happy, that's everything! We just bought a mini hand held vacuum and did research as well, definitely a purchase that needs some homework to be done! Hope you have an amazing spring!

  5. I adore music, and I wish I had the gift of music too. If I could only sing or play the piano. I did not know about PB &J Day! But, I just got back from Kroger, where I bought peanut butter in three flavors...white chocolate, cinnamon swirl, and hazelnut.

  6. I can't sing or play an instrument either. I haven't even been listening to music. I need to start again. Happy is awesome! I've been looking at vacuum cleaners too. My old self propelled isn't working right and I'm not finding anything I like. We do have an upright Shark vacuum but I don't like it on the carpet, mainly for the floors. I haven't had a PB&J sandwich in a long time but I do eat peanut butter. That is a scary story about the neighbor across the street. I like your quote.

  7. I too would like to be able to sing...or play an instrument...well. I can do both, but not the way my girls or my mom did. Clearly that talent skipped a generation! Haha! I agree with the vacuums. We have a central vacuum system (my husband used to install them in college) and I love it. When I went to buy my daughter a vacuum for her apartment I was shocked by all the choices...and the prices! Yikes. I hope you find one you like.

  8. Hi Carla. Love all your answers. Wow about the neighbor. That has to be scary. Drugs are a big problem in this country. I hope he can get some help. Hugs. Kris

  9. We have the homeless druggies that live on the streets in certain areas. They camp out on the Library grounds. I don’t like it but I get out of my car and walk right through them without making eye contact. I have found if they see just a glimpse of fear, they start bothering people. Police can’t do anything about. And to think I don’t even live in a big city. They’re everywhere here in California. Sad. They use the library restroom to clean up. It’s awful.

  10. I wish I could play an instrument, I tried but just couldn't do it. What a scary experience you had with your neighbor, I'm glad you don't have to deal with him anymore.

  11. Fun questions and your answers were great. I rarely eat PB and J. I like it, but just never think to eat it. SINGING....I would love to be able to sing well, but this is one talent that passed me by. I love listening to people who know music and can sing. We just had to purchase a new dish washer....the other one bit the dust. I enjoyed your Q & A post today..

  12. We had someone who lived across the street that was into drugs. Am so glad he was finally arrested and is now in jail. He tried to kill both his ex wife and girlfriend. The house was now sold to a nice couple and we are thankful now. I like peanut butter and jelly, just not together. I am weird. LOL Janice

  13. Enjoyed reading your answers - especially #2 (although maybe not the story about the drug addict - glad that got resolved) Yes the choice of a hoover is important. When we first got a cleaner she was very insistent about me needing to change mine lol.

  14. I love PB&Js but I almost never eat one. Just too much temptation between two slices of bread, hahaha! A druggie across the way would intimidate me too, haha ... xoxo

  15. Your intimidating story makes me nervous just reading it. The older I get, more and more things/people/situations intimidate me and/or just make me scared. I wouldn't have imagined it and who knows what I will be like in 20 years. I think my favorite jelly is blueberry:)

  16. I researched my last vacuum purchase thoroughly as well.
I would find that situation very intimidating also. Glad you had people nearby to step in!

  17. Musical ability and talent were common themes in the answers this week. Your story sounds scary. I was involved in an auto accident with someone who was out of his mind and it was truly frightening. Thankfully he wasn't armed but I had my kids in the car and fortunately an off duty police officer heard my 911 call and was nearby so he arrived pretty quickly. It was all terrifying. I'm glad yours had a happy ending too!

  18. I've always wanted to be a good swimmer, and despite taking classes at the Y back in the day, I can't swim. I don't float on top of the water. I float several inches below the water. I sometimes eat PB and J, but not often. Did a lot when I was a kid. Sorry you had to endure that drug situation and glad to hear he was escorted out of the neighborhood. Generally speaking I would say I'm not easily intimidated by people.

  19. I think vacuum's definitely can be major, especially if you want one that will last. Oh yikes...to #5..I think I would agree. and if not intimidated, VERY uncomfortable.

  20. Carla, I just love your answers to the hodgepodge. They are to the point and so genuine. Oh my gosh, the only people that really intimidate me are people that are high. They are so scary to even be around. I'm glad to hear your neighbor situation turned out well. I LOVE peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and eat them all the time. In fact, I can't have the bread right now, but nibbled on peanut butter and boysenberry jam today haha. And I'm with you on the gift of music.....don't have a talent for it at all. I'm glad you are in a "happy" state right now, and I hope you find the perfect vacuum cleaner that will last for a long time. That jelly bean picture is delightful. Your posts make my heart smile, Carla.
