Sleep Tight

Have you ever said "Sleep Tight!" to your kids?
Do you know where that saying came from?

In colonial times mattresses were laid over ropes stretched between the sides of the bed frame. When the ropes sagged, they had to be tightened with a wind-up wrench.
So people really meant it when they talked about sleeping tight.

Have a great Saturday!

I know everyone is worried about spam, but I have to say [in the nicest way possible] that I just can't see those numbers and letters that bloggers use. And I'm so sorry that I am having difficulties commenting on your blog because of them.

  9. That's the sweetest picture!!! I didn't know that was where sleep tight came from. The last part of that always freaked me out as a kid, though: "Don't let the bed bugs bite!"
