Happy Birthday to Mickey Mouse and it is the Hodgepodge!

Happy Wednesday to you all and you know what Wednesday brings, the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

From this Side of the Pond1. It's Mickey Mouse's birthday (November 18)...happy birthday Mickey! He reads here, right? Have you ever been to Disney, any of the parks at all?I have not been to Disney. Are you a Disney superfan or something less than that? I do enjoy the Disney movies. They're open right now so tell us, would you go if you had the time/money/a free trip? I would have to find a friend to go with me. If I could do that.. I think I just might say"yes" to a free trip, with spending money included to Disney.

2. Your favorite place to go when you want to be quiet as a church mouse? In to the woods. I hunted with my dad when I was young. I learned to walk quiet in the woods and sit and listen.. very quiet. Would those who know you well describe you as more churchmouse or perhaps more like mighty mouse? I just asked my husband, he answered "churchmouse."

3. The day before Mickey's birthday happens to be National Homemade Bread Day. Did/will you celebrate? No. No homemade bread on the menu. Do you bake your own bread?Once in awhile I do. My husband enjoys baking bread more than I do. Last time you had hot out-of-the-oven homemade bread?Late September and it was so good. Why don't we do it more often?  What's your favorite kind of bread? As of today, Honey Oat from our local bakery.. but in another month I will have a new favorite. I enjoy bread.

4. What's something you might say is 'the greatest thing since sliced bread'?
I do like text messaging. I can share a thought, a question, a photo whenever and that person can get back to me when they are able.

5. Let's keep the gratitude theme we started last week rolling on through November. Share with us five little things you're grateful for today. Small blessings. One catch-they all must start with the letter T. Gotta keep us thinking, right?

Tea .. hot and cold
Turtlenecks .. it is cold outside
Toads .. my garden friends
Time .. visits with friends and family
Twix .. my favorite candy bar

6. Insert your own random thought here. A fun read.. and just in time for Christmas. Our library is doing curbside pickup during the pandemic.  I appreciate that.

  1. How do you think they decide which is Mickey's birthday? The day he was drawn? The day he first appeared in comics? Or the movies? We need answers!

  3. Great answers as usual. I'm more of a church mouse also although I can be talkative when I have someone to talk to about something that I'm very interested in. Since Covid-19, I've been mostly alone all day and I'm pretty quiet.

    Stay safe and well.
    Hugs, Julia

  4. When he had a bread machine, my husband used to make bread. But it finally broke, and he never got another.

The only breads I ever made, where "Quick Breads," like Banana and etc.

  6. I love Disney movies too! When I did Disney World by myself Mark was on a business trip so that worked out great. The woods would be nice. We loved our vacations in Mammoth Lakes staying in a cabin in the woods each year. Texting is a great answer! Love your 5 T's. Looks like a great book. I just put it in my cart on Amazon and will ask for it for Christmas.

  7. I wish we had some toads. I think we have seen one here in over 30 years. I love Twix, have you tried the new Cookies & Cream ones?

  8. Our library is open but all books are returned to the book drop and not reshelved for several days. They have taped out a traffic pattern on the floor inside, everyone wears a mask, you scan your own book to check out, and it's a small town so never croweded anyway. Enjoy your week!

  10. You must visit Disney one time in your life. It is a crazy place but fun maybe some day when your boys marry and give you grandchildren you can take them. I loved going with my two grandgirls and seeing them enjoy the parks. Love all your answers. Have a great rest of the week. xoxo Kris

  11. Oh what a fun post! I've been to Disney twice, once as a kid, once with my kids. Honestly, I never need to go back! Ha! It was fun, but I'm more of a "sit by the water" vacation kind of girl. And I love bread...it's my weakness!

  12. I've been to Disneyland (in California) twice, in high school when my brother lived out there and again in college with friends. I'm not a big crowd kind of person, so it wasn't really my cup of tea - I'd much rather take a walk in the woods! ;)
Bread, though - that's something I love! Yesterday I made parmesan garlic "bubble bread" (little balls of dough dipped in garlic/onion/parmesan butter, then piled into a pan and baked). That loaf disappeared in less than an hour, and the kids wanted to know when I'd make that recipe again! :)

  13. Fun stuff. We had some fun family vacations to Disneyland and Disneyworld. It's worth going at least once. Lately baking has been on my mind. Today I made blueberry muffins. Yum.

  14. I feel the same about Disney. And, I am completely on board with your favorite bread "but in another month I will have a new favorite"! There are so many delicious breads!
