The Start of the Kitchen Project!

 Hello Friends,

We have started on the remodel of our kitchen. This has been a long waited remodel. We are excited to update our little kitchen, with new counter tops, cabinets, flooring and paint!

We have decided to do a fun new look. I will be excited to show you what we have decided on color and design. Yes, we are going with color. Our kitchen is currently white.

We had tile on the kitchen floor. We are going to be replacing it with wood, to match the rest of our home. We will have a 100% wood floor home after this project.

Ripping up the old flooring.

This was back breaking work.. here are a few quotes from the day, compliments of my husband..

"Carla, I can feel that I am not 25 anymore."

After a few more pulling of nails and ripping up boards..

"Carla, I can feel that I am not 35 anymore."

Pulling nails.. lots of nails.

This week my husband is taking a week off from work and we will tackle this project. We hope to get a lot of it done this week, we will finish on the weekends. The BIG goal is to have a new to us kitchen by the first week of March.

We are doing all the work.. teamwork makes the dream work.

Thank you for cheering us on with the BIG kitchen project.

  1. So excited for you. Good luck and have fun. I know you are going to love it because you did the work yourselves. Ha Ha when Terry does things now he says the same phrase. I am not young anymore to be doing this kind of work lol! Cheering you on. xoxo Kris

  2. Oh Carla, this is so exciting. I can't wait to see any progress. Remodelling is a big
messy job but it will all be worth it.

I love your husband's comments after pulling nails and flooring boards. I actually love having porcelain tiles in certain areas in the house and wish I had some in my kitchen.

    Good luck with the project.
    Hugs,
    Julia

  4. Carla, this is such a big project, but I know the outcome will look wonderful. How exciting to get a new kitchen look. Much of our time is spent in the kitchen, so this will be nice for you. Your husband's quotes I can really relate to, as I feel the same way when I'm out raking leaves, bagging them up, and doing yard work. That's great that you are both doing all the work. That will make it even more special when it's finished. Can't wait to see.

  10. That's quite an undertaking...at our age we wouldn't be able to do it at all. So be glad you are still able! heehee! Hope you don't work too hard. Will you hire someone to do some of it? Hugs!

  11. Oh Carla!!! I am so very excited for you. There is nothing like a dream project coming to fruition. I can't wait to see it. Taking up old flooring is a HUGE job. Have done that on a couple of our projects.
    Keep us posted---literally. xo Diana

  12. Now that is a lot of work! So what are you doing in the mean time for cooking? I can't wait to see what it is going to look like. I think it's funny how people in my age group grew up in homes that had wooden floors and were covered with carpeting. Adam and Gabby's house was built in 1953 and they were able to keep the wooden floors under the carpet.
