I am NUTS for this fella! |
Hello Friends, it is Wednesday, it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. How did you meet your significant other? If you don't have a significant other, tell us how you met your best friend.
I met my husband working at the Supper Club his parents owned and operated. I was a dishwasher/waitress. He was a bartender/waiter/cook.
2. It's Department Store Day (October 16)...do you still shop in
department stores? If not do you miss that kind of shopping experience?
Do you have a favorite department store? Any fun memories of department
store shopping when you were a child?
I use to shop at Department Stores. I do not do it much now. I did enjoy it.
One of my fun memories of shopping at a department store, was with my sister and aunt Sharon. We pretended to have foreign accents as we tried on clothing. We laughed and laughed and laughed.
3. Something you're currently nuts about?
Going for walks with Ernie. I love this time of year with the colored leaves, crisp air and bright blue sky. I am also nuts about pumpkins. We live close to a pumpkin farm stand. All shapes, sizes and colors of pumpkins, gourds and squash. We purchased pumpkins for our pumpkin carving party, gourds for decorating and squash for eating. I already made squash soup, yum!
4. What's your favorite nut and is there a favorite recipe where this nut is used?
My favorite nut is a cashew. I do not have a favorite recipe using cashews.
5. On Wednesday we officially reach the '70 days until Christmas' mark. Have you purchased any gifts? If you don't celebrate Christmas then how about Hanukkah presents?
I have not purchased any gifts.
I do have a list of what I plan to purchase or make for family and friends for Christmas.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
A little bit of my autumn decorating...
Happy Autumn Days!!
It's fun reading how people met. I finally did a little fall decorating last weekend since I had family coming on Sunday. It was motivating and apparently I needed motivating : ) Hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet how you met Jeremy. The squash soup sounds yummy. Love all your sweet fall decor. Happy New Week my friend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteI love the gnome!!!
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkins as well.
Love hearing how people meet their mates.
ENJOY the day!
LOVE your decorating, especially the scarecrow pumpkin man and the two cats!
ReplyDeleteI love your fall decorating! That is cute how you two lovebirds met!! I love this time of year. Hi Ernie!
ReplyDeleteWell that's a super sweet "meet cute"! I always love hearing those how we met stories, they just make me smile!! Enjoy your fall walk today!! xo
ReplyDeleteI always ask people how they met, if we are with another couple in a relaxed setting and I want to make conversation and I don't already know how they met. One couple who have been friends of ours for years met on the school bus when they were young teenagers. It's fun to see people's eyes light up and the smiles appear on their faces as they look at one another shyly and recall their first meeting! I met TG at a church function and I could take you to the very spot and I can even describe what he was wearing and doing when I first clapped eyes on him, hahahaha! I knew in that moment that he was my destiny. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am jealous that you have ideas of what you are buying for people this Christmas. i feel lost of what to get anyone
ReplyDeleteThis is a great picture of you and your husband, Carla. I also love cashews, but macadamias are my favorite. Your squash soup sounds delicious. How fun to live that close to a pumpkin farm stand. Your Autumn decorating is cute, and I think I remember that delightful scarecrow. What a precious picture of Ernie with the pumpkin. Love that one. Have a good October week, Carla.

You are truly blessed to share your life with your best friend. I was a waitress also when I was young. I got a lot of tips but some of the other waitresses seemed to be jealous as we didn't pooled the tips and I got more tips than them. I was on my own so I needed the extra money to pay my rent.
ReplyDeleteThe only fall decoration that I've put up is a pumpkin. Happy Fall.
Hugs, julia
That's so sweet how you met. How old were you guys? That is funny that you two did foreign languages. I wish I had an Ernie. We had no luck growing our pumpkins this year. I will get lists from the kids and then shop online. Loving your decorations. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have black and white buffalo checked curtains too! 👍🏻
ReplyDeleteI think this must be the first time in my life I have not yet decorated for Fall. I just have other things on my mind and I’ll probably throw some stuff together before Thanksgiving - this is so unusual for me because I usually go all out. But you know what? It’s okay. I think last year I did too much at Christmas and it took me a couple of weeks to break it all down and put it away and I’m still burned out. Ernie is so cute and looks like a fun walking companion.
My sister and I used to pretend we were speaking another language. I’m sure we fooled no one!
I love your autumn decorating! So cute! And I love cashews as well - it can be dangerous to have a whole canister in the house. Great photo of you and Jeremy:)
ReplyDeleteFun Autumn decorating. That is an interesting way to meet your guy. It's good to see how you work and perform in the workplace, I think. Happy Hodgepodge to you!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading all of the hodgepodge questions and answers today. How neat to live next to a pumpkin farm. I think they are so neat with their bright orange color, growing in the fields. Your little witchy ghost is so cute... Happy Wednesday...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post
ReplyDeleteHappy Autumn! This mild weather is delaying my holiday thoughts a bit. I'd better get going. Tee hee.
ReplyDeleteCashews are a great nut. My son is allergic to them so I don't use them in my cooking but cashew paste curries make them nice and rich.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions...I love the Halloween decor
ReplyDeleteI do love gnomes!
ReplyDeleteCute Halloween decorations. I keep forgetting to change out my placemats on the dining room table. That's the extent of my decorating, except for Christmas. I do decorate for that holiday. Met my hubby at a high school football game back in the day. He was there with the guy I was sorta dating at the time. We became good friends, and then started dating and have been married for 52 years. I don't miss department stores. Am a big fan of ordering from my computer. Love cashews, especially warm ones.
