Hello Friends, we are coming out of the deep freeze. Last week Wednesday our temperatures were in the single digits and below. Oh how good it feels to be in the high 30's and 40's. And now on to the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. February 26th is National Tell A Fairy Tale Day...have you read a
fairy tale lately? What's your favorite fairy tale? Do you believe in
'happily ever after'?
My favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast.
Yes, I do believe in 'happily ever after' ... my parents have been married 50 YEARS + ... it can happen, I know other couples that are married 50 years plus. It takes WORK, but yes, I do believe in happily ever after.
2. Complete one of the following sentences with a thought relating to your life currently-
- Once upon a time___________
- A long time ago________________
- In a place far far away__________
Once a upon a time two little boys lived in this house.
3. Which of the following 'fairy tale foods' is your favorite? Which have you made/eaten most recently?
porridge/oatmeal (Goldilocks and The Three Bears), an apple (Snow White), a gingerbread cookie (The Gingerbread Man), pumpkin soup/pie/bread (Cinderella), peas (The Princess and the Pea), beans (Jack and The Beanstalk) or a cup of tea (Alice in Wonderland)
I love a good gingerbread cookie with a cup of black tea.
4. What's your idea of fun?
Hanging out with family and friends.
Anytime I get to spend time with my boys.
5. Next week's Hodgepodge lands in March. Is that right? I guess so.
Give us one noun, one verb, and one adjective that tell us something
about your February. To make you think a little harder, you cannot use
the words cold or snowy.
Noun ... Family
We traveled to visit my parents a few times in the month of February.
Verb ... Drive
We went for a two hour drive to visit my parents.
Adjective ... Bumpy
It was a bumpy ride to my parents, pothole season has arrived in Wisconsin.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
God make my life a little light
within the world to glow
a little flame that burneth bright
wherever I may go
God make my life a little hymn
of tenderness and praise
of faith that never waxeth dim
in all His wondrous ways.

Winter and spring rain brings potholes to Alabama - sometimes I feel like my whole car is going to fall in!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a joy when family is defined as fun for us! That is a true gift. Have a good day!

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat poem- thanks for sharing it. Lots of family time is the best. I'm glad you have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with yours :).
ReplyDeleteI love this little poem. And I also love gingerbread. I have made gingerbread pancakes and gingerbread muffins!
ReplyDeleteAll great answers. I think the best times and most fun is with family too. Have a great day. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteHey Carla....hanging out with family and just enjoying life is simply the best!! glad you all get to do this. I love me some gingerbread cookies and hot tea...If we were near each other, we might just make a morning of eating cookies and sipping hot tea. Hope your Wednesday is awesome...
ReplyDeleteSweet. All your thoughts are special. We were in the 50s yesterday...and it looks like "normal" and warm going forward for the next few weeks. Yay.
ReplyDeleteBeauty and the Beast is a good one. I have loved all of the animated movies they have made with those fairy tales. Sweet. It's hard when they grow up and move out. Enjoy your cookie and tea. Hopefully a lot more of those fun times will be happening again soon. Family is the best. I love you answers to #5 and your random is beautiful. Take Care, Debby
ReplyDeleteYour once upon a time...😌. Right there with you my friend...xo
ReplyDeleteA lovely post and wonderful ending with those words by Matilda Edwards.
ReplyDeleteMay these last few days of February be good ones for you.
All the best Jan
Enjoyed your post Carla. We have potholes too!
ReplyDeleteI rarely make gingerbread cookies, except at the holidays. Someone made a batch last week and shared and it was so good. With tea it's even better. Sweet once upon a time memory! Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast also! Enjoyed reading all your answers today, and I especially liked your Once Upon a Time. I had three little boys once upon a time - now they are all a head taller than me! It's pothole season in Ohio too, and I'm already tired of it! Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteHappy 50th to your parents Carla. That is so wonderful. What I heard your governor did is just awful with the new words for mother, father and parent...next he might need to get rid of Mother's Day and Father's Day because you can no longer refer to them as that. What is this world coming too? Anyway your post about your family and your boys were so sweet. So are gingerbread cookies. I love them too. Janice
ReplyDeleteOh wow! 50 years is amazing, congratulations to your parents.
ReplyDeleteOhh! I could just go for a gingerbread cookie with a cup of tea.
I love the movie, Ever After. Have you ever watched it? It's a Cinderella fairy tale. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Hodge Podge! That is amazing about your parents! How wonderful!! We're in pothole season now too. Looking forward to March and warmer temps!
ReplyDeleteLove your answers. Wow 50 years congratulations to your parents. Yep, pothole season has definitely arrived here in Wisconsin :0
ReplyDeleteThe Professor and I have been married almost 52 years.
ReplyDeleteSpending time with our children is always a blessing.
I love oatmeal and apples. Sometimes together.
Have a wonderful March!
You've reminded me of a recipe I made a few years ago for a little girls' tea. It is called Fairy Bites and it was so charming! Time to make those again. xoxo
