Spring Skies |
Hello Spring in Wisconsin, we have snow one day and it melts the next. All in good time we will soon see leaves on the trees and green grass.
Now it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. Spring has officially sprung (in the northern hemisphere anyway)...did she roll in more like a lion or more like a lamb in your neck of the woods? What needs more of your attention in terms of a good spring clean this year-your house or your garden/yard?
What needs more of your attention in terms of a good spring clean this year ... the yard. Yesterday we had some big limbs cut from our neighbors tree that over hangs into our yard. We decided to clean up the mess after to help with the cost of the project. Our amazing tree surgeon... climbing and cutting. You will see a photo of him below.
Time to roll up the sleeves and clean up all the limbs, branches and more.
As far as how did spring come in to Wisconsin? I am going to say like a lion. We have had very strong cold winds. We have had gusts up to 40 mph several days this month.
2. What's put a spring in your step lately?
Sunshine... I just love that spring sunshine.
3. When you were a kid, what was the best snack to find in your lunchbox? If you didn't do the lunchbox thing, tell us what was your favorite after school snack.
I loved finding my mom's no bake chocolate cookies. They still are a favorite treat of mine that my mom makes and she seems to be the only one that can make them so delicious.
4. In what area of your life are you planting seeds ?
I am starting seeds. I also have had the great privilege to help a young lady start seeds.
My friend A's daughter in law is starting to get interested in gardening. She has asked if I can help her get started, to teach her some tricks that I have learned along the way in my many years of gardening. I am so excited about it, I love to pass on my love for gardening. I am planting seeds ... of the love for gardening and seed starting.
5. Why do you live where you do? Would you consider living somewhere else? Why or why not?
My husband landed his first job here in Cameron, Wisconsin, we were just married and moved from my hometown to Cameron. We did not know anyone when we first moved here. It was not an easy transition for me... but I met wonderful people, who became dear friends. And now Cameron feels like home.
My husband and I do talk about moving when he retires. When we have this discussion, we do plan to stay living in Wisconsin.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My first bouquet of 2025. Using the branches with buds from the tree limbs that were cut yesterday, I created this springtime bouquet.
Happy Spring!!
Happy Spring! How nice you can share your love and knowledge of gardening with others. I wonder if your moms no-bake are the kind I remember eating as a child. I haven't made them in forever, but I used to love them too. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteNo bake chocolate chip cookies sound so good, and a little dangerous to be so easy to make! The sunshine is so good to see and how nice to get your yard trimmed and cleaned. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing that you are sharing your knowledge of gardening. I was just thinking about how wonderful it would be to have a person person to ask things! I consult gardening websites constantly! My parents were avid gardeners but my interest in gardening occurred way past the time that they were around to help me. I just started indoor seeds and can't wait to see them grow! That bouquet is so pretty and seeing the guy in the tree (is that your hubby?) about gave me heart palpitations. He's so high up there!! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHow nice you could help a newbie to gardening from seeds. You are the best at gardening so I know she will learn a lot from you. Happy Spring. PS. those cookies sound good. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteI think that is so neat that you are sharing the love of gardening with others. I heard just yesterday of a grandma, who opens up her kitchen to the neighbor children, to teach them the love of cooking. I thought that was so special.
ReplyDeleteI always scratch my head when others ask me why I wouldn’t leave California. Duh, it’s where my family is, my support system, everything. I’d totally be a fish out of water anywhere else.
Enjoyed your answers and happy Spring!
Wow, that is really something with him in that tree. Hope Spring arrives like a lamb soon. Yes, sunshine is the best. What a nice treat in your lunch. So nice of you to help A's daughter. I liked your answer on where you are living. The bouquet is lovely. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLeave the tree trimming to the professionals! How nice to have this project behind you. We've been gathering the branches that have blown off the trees in the last several months. Sunshine really does put a spring in my step and attitude! Happy Spring to you in Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you will post the cookie recipe some time? How fun and rewarding to mentor a young gardener!
ReplyDeleteSpring sunshine is extra special!! Wow - that tree surgeon is way up in the tree! That is a true skill. I really love that you are planting seeds . . .by teaching someone to actually plant seeds! I think that answer should surely win! You have my vote!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies do sound yummy! Spring is coming and going here in the Madison area, too. Today was glorious--partly cloudy and a high of 54. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your Spring bouquet. I never took a lunch to school. My mom was the head cook. The food was good back then. Homemade. Janice
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some nicer weather soon. We have had more sunshine here and it has sure put a spring in my step!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you can pass on your love of gardening to someone else. Good luck to your friends daughter with her garden.
I love that first bouquet! It's great that you are getting your seeds started and teaching your tricks and tips to your friend's daughter. Sunshine is definitely putting some pep in my step too!
ReplyDeleteMmm...no bake chocolate cookies?? They sound fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI love spring sunshine - we had a good spell today. How lovely that you have someone to share your gardening knowledge with. I'm sure you are a great teacher.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are helping the young woman learn about gardening! I've enjoyed gardening since my parents taught me when I was six (which was a very long time ago lol). And I worked at a garden center for many years, so I loved helping folks, both newbie gardeners and pros. We have up and down temps in Kansas in March, so we never know what each day will hold until it gets here, but I do love the sunshine and warm tep, too. Have a very blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's spring and time for clean up, planting and just soaking in the sunshine! I hope we don't get any more of that horrible strong wind.
