We Care!

Hello Friends,

The above photo is how one of our Christmas greetings came in the mailbox to the friend we mailed it to. That friend mailed me the We Care package to show how they received our Christmas greeting and asked if I minded sending another letter .. since she was only able to read half.

And so I printed another letter and sent her a photo of our family too. I also included a little note to share with her that we received a Christmas greeting sliced open as well, but it was just simply stapled smack in the center of the card to keep it together in our mailbox.

As I write this.. I know I have a friend reading this saying, "Carla, you and your adventures with the USPS." And it is true, I had mail addressed to Wisconsin go all the way to Thailand and back to the address to Wisconsin.

The funny thing is.. my dear grandma was a Rural Mail Carrier for 40 years. I went with her many a time on her route. So I guess the adventures of the USPS.. is in my blood.

Any good USPS stories on your end?

  1. That's special that your Grandma was a postal service carrier, Carla. I appreciate them very much, and the one I have up here now in the mountains does a wonderful job with our mail. Maybe that's why you love sending cards and letters as much as receiving them, cause your Grandma did her route for 40 years, and it's in your blood. And I can't tell you how much I appreciate every time you send me cards, notes, or goodies in the mail.

  3. Oh goodness, Carla. I've had packages arrived partially opened and one package from Scotland with the content smashed but nothing to top your story. Thanks for sharing your interesting relationship with the US postal system.

    keep warm.

  4. All I have, is that for a few years, when I was growing up.... My mother was Postmistress, in our little town. And...... The post office was in our front room, or parlor, as it used to be called in houses, at that time.

    Can anyone top that? Grinnnnn...

  5. Our mail service isn't so "caring" although we do get an official note with damaged mail. Our mail is all over the place at the moment due to staff shortages because of Covid. We don't get mail everyday and we're still getting Christmas cards. This week we also got a package of hearing aid batteries for hubby that were despatched on the 14th December. They were from a UK company so they really should only have taken a few days, a week at most to reach us.

  7. Well I have a USPS story too. We have a little town up the river from us called East China. I mailed a letter to someone in this town. The letter went all the way to China the country and back to me undeliverable. Can you believe it? Janice

  8. Oh dear. We've had more mishaps lately than we have in the past. I've found mail on the street near the mailbox, and I've received mail weeks after someone sent it. I haven't received bills (so I had to pay late charges), and one payment wasn't received on time...even though I mailed it two weeks in advance. Frustrating. I know it's hard and stressful for the mail carriers, but it's frustrating when the system isn't working. Hoping things will improve...

  9. Goodness! Yes, I have had a few. Damaged mail for sure. I guess now they just don't have enough workers.

  10. OMG it is crazy how some things come back or are received through the mail. I do not have any good mail stories but we always did have the nicest mail carriers. I got to know each of our mail carriers in our neighborhood we lived. Highlight of my day was to say hello to my mail carrier each day if I was home. Have a great week. xoxo Kris

  11. Oh my word ... I sent a Christmas card to my niece and her husband in Galveston. I've sent mail to them before. I got it back ripped and mangled but intact enough for them to have slapped a "No Mail Receptacle" message on the front ... ummm, no. Kelsey and Preston have a mailbox. And not an invisible one. The USPS is full of excuses and never takes either blame or responsibility, but that's typical for a government agency. xoxo

  12. I've never gotten a notice from them like that, but I have indeed gotten very damaged packages. Was a real problem with my grass roots charity of knitted and crocheted items. The mail certainly is not what it used to be. The guy trump put in charge has really made things go down hill in a big way. It's actually the primary reason I stopped my grass roots charity after 13 years. Boo to the post office.
