Looking Back at 2021 ~ A Story in Our Wisconsin Magazine

Hello Friends,

I have a few fun items I want to share with you, that I never got around to do in 2021. Here is my first of.. Looking Back at 2021.

Our Wisconsin is a beautiful magazine that features all that's great in the Badger State.

The magazine features a treasure hunt for a hidden key. The magazine provides a clue in each issue.. step by step the mystery unfolds. The magazine has given away two new cars, new boats and other substantial packages. This year it was a teardrop camper.

I am going to jump into the meat of the story here. It ended up that a family of Amish found the key by accident. The key was hidden in an old outhouse at the Kennan Community Park, but what the magazine did not know was that the old outhouses where going to be removed.

The Amish family headed to the park to move the outhouse, (which was going to be rebuilt into a chicken coop) and they found the key.

They won the teardrop camper.

My friend Lori sent me the story, because I grew up not far from the Kennan area. And to my surprise the Amish family that won the camper, also was the Amish family that my dad was mentoring in learning how to trap beaver.

It was fun to hear my dad share the story with us as well. Both my parents have become friends with this Amish family.

For the rest of the story, Bonnie and Bell pulled the teardrop camper. But the Amish family did not really have the time to camp and the photos were taken in good fun.

The camper was sold to a neighbor, (who is also a friend of my parents) and the Amish family split the proceeds.

The phrase "it is a small world after all" hit home with this fun story.

  1. How fun that they found the key by accident and were able to get the camper. I would figure Amish would not probably be able to use it so it is good they could sell it and the Amish family could split the profits. Very nice story. Have a great rest of the day. xoxo Kris

  2. What a charming story, Carla. Thanks for sharing. You know, there is an Amish movie that I've watched many times, and whenever I see the movie, I can't help but cry. It's a beautiful story about forgiveness. This is a cute little camper, and even more special that your mom and dad were friends with this Amish family.

  4. That's a great story and good luck for your father's Amish friends. I think the teardrop camper is cute.
    Thanks for sharing.

It looks like spring isn't far away, I have some daffodils coming up by the back of the house in a sheltered area. I'll take any signs of spring that comes my way. The front yard is mostly bare but there is still some snow in the backyard.

    Take care, Hugs,

  5. Who would have thought an Anish family would have won this contest. What are the odds? Glad they were able to at least sell it and receive the money. Also who would have thought your dad would have mentored that particular family. Again what are the odds. Great story! Janice

  18. Ironic how the key was found. I don't see how an Amish family would better themselves with a camper tho. I can understand selling it. (I checked your previous post...love the colors of your"new kitchen).
