My cat does that, because she is killing the creatures that emerge from there, but it is not warm there so I wouldn't think that would be reason. Our Anya is quite the "mouser" even though she is a declawed rescue. I put a stopper over it too, but she is better.
Well isn't he handsome. My husband wants a large ginger cat like that, can't so anything though until we no longer have our other 19 year old cat. Does he drink from the shower, my cat does in the evenings.

My cat was also fascinated by water. He would put his paw in his water bowl an swirl the water for a long time.
