Baby It is Cold Outside and Inside!!

Baby it is Cold Outside and Inside!

We dipped down to 15 degrees Tuesday night. Brrr.
I was feeling extra cold because our furnace died.
Oh Dear!

Wednesday morning we called our trusted Heating and Cooling Repair people.

My husband and I sort of joked as we asked "Do we need to spray him down before he comes in?"
I know this may seem very strange, but it felt very strange about having a stranger come into the house during the virus. Our family has been so good about staying home, washing hands, staying home and washing hands.

I am happy to report the Joe, the furnace guy, met us at the door and shared that he was not ill, and sanitized as he left his last job. He has helped us before a few years ago, so we caught up on life and of course talked about the virus.

After Joe left, I spayed and wiped down everything, including the furnace.
It took the entire afternoon to the get the house cozy again.

A big Thank You to Joe .. I am so happy to be all cozy in my house, because the wind has just kicked up and spring has not sprung.

Think Spring!

  1. My daughter is a nurse and son in law is a plumber, I am worried about them and my 10 year old grandson. The last time I spoke to my daughter, she stayed out on the front porch and we talked at the door, with her outside, and me inside, still keeping a distance. She was concerned about the possibility of carrying the virus to my husband and I. I haven't hugged my grandson, daughter or son in law is such a long time. And my son, who is stationed in Japan, who was scheduled to be stationed in the USA again in May, who knows when he will now get to come back to the US. Worrisome times.

Our furnace/ac blower was making an odd noise on the one very hot, pollen-y day we had to have our A/C on. The noise did stop, but I was worried about having the furnace man here inside the house if the blower noise continued.

  2. Oh no, not a good time for your furnace to die! We had our annual pressure wash and gutter cleaning scheduled and decided to let them come. We put the check in a Ziploc bag on the front porch and talked to them through our doorbell camera. So strange. It must've felt a lot different welcoming someone into your home. Hopefully you'll be nice and cozy now that its fixed.

  4. Carla, I knoooowww! We had to have the plumber in a month ago, and I scheduled him for first thing in the morning, did a "health check" (he looked and sounded well!), stayed away from him, got him in and out (didn't have him check other drains to fill up the hour I was paying for, just in and out quick!). He was probably just as terrified of me! :D

  5. What you felt is not strange at all. There are lists of how to protect yourself if you need a repair person to come in. The lists have all kinds of things to do, like distance yourself from him, put down paper to lay his tools on, etc. So you were wise! I'm glad you got him to come over so soon, it is freezing here! Why is a bunny out in the bitter cold?

  7. Oh no about the furnace. Glad you could get it fixed and all is good again. This is a time when you just have to hope for the best by letting someone in your home at this time. We are having snow today but it is going to finally get nice this weekend and hopefully all the snow will melt away. Happy Friday. Have a good weekend. Stay cozy with the furnace fixed.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  8. I'm so glad that you got your heat back again. I know how you feel having to let someone come in the house at this time of pandemic. Take care and stay safe and warm.

  9. We lost our hot water last weekend and were able to get it repaired quickly but yes like you I was wiping everything down afterwards. Fortunately our temps have been quite mild this last week or so and we've not always had the heating on. Glad you got yours fixed quickly too.

  10. We had a service man out over a week ago. He was masked. I asked him to take off his shoes. He want to his truck for shoe covers. Mark and I wore masks too. He wore gloves. He was just as worried as we were.

  11. It's a tough time for repairs and emergencies, isn't it? Our power went out on Monday night, after we got a huge food deliver that we waited weeks for...Murphy's Law. Luckily it went back on and we didn't have to call anyone. I'm glad your furnace got fixed.

  12. I imagine it helped that was someone you had done business with before and not a complete stranger. Amazing in the difference in temperatures from last week to this week. I agree, Think Spring!
