The End of December ~ This and That

 Hello Friends,

I will share a few more happenings from December with you.

For several years now we host a cookie decorating party. My dad gets very creative with his decorating.

Looking down at the table.

A sugar cookie dog decked out for the holidays and ready to be eaten. I will admit, I ate this cookie.

Speaking of dogs, my dad found a puzzle that had the face of our dog Molly.

We put the puzzle together as a family.

RIP

Molly

Her memories are always with us, we usually have a Christmas Molly story we reminisce.

I will show you my homemade luminary. We had extreme cold weather over Christmas weekend. I change the water for our hens several times in the day during this time, because of how cold it is. The ice forms around the water can and as I  tip it out, it forms a luminary. Above I have a candle burning during the evening December 31st as we ring in the New Year, 2023.

  1. What a sweet family tradition. I wish that you would have shared a picture of all the creative cookies. The dog cookie is very special.

How appropriate to reminisce about Molly with a puzzle. Your ice luminary is also creative for the occasion.
    Stay warm and well.
    Hugs,

  8. That homemade luminary is so cool, Carla. It must be so cold out that ice forms around the water can. Your cookie decorating sounds delightful. And what a cute puzzle that looks like your beloved Molly. I bought Francesca a puzzle with jolly Santa on the front, as she loves puzzles, but it's a bit much for her age. She will have to grow into it. Puzzles are so much fun. I always enjoy your "this and that" post, Carla.

  9. How much fun! I really want to host a cookie exchange next Christmas. Cookie decorating party is a great idea. We could've had ice luminary this past Christmas because we had several days in a row with temperatures below freeing, which is unusual for Central Alabama. I know yours were so pretty! I love the candle in the ice.

  10. Looks like you had a fun (and tasty!) NY celebration. We've been so warm for two weeks now, that I'm almost forgetting how cold it was at Christmastime. I hope we won't be that cold again this winter, but there's lots of winter left...

  13. I love the icy light!!!
And having a traditional cookie decorating day sounds like fun. My sister used to enjoy making sugar cookies and ice them until she got tired of cleaning up the mess. lol. My decorating consisted of placing raisins on gingerbread men.

  15. The luminary is lovey! What a fun way to use what Mother Nature has supplied. We do a cookies baking/decorating party every year, too. I think it's one of my favorite traditions of the season.
