Goodbye January and it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. What was your after school routine like when you were a kid?
I rode the school bus home. I was a country kid, so our bus ride was long but we had the best bus driver. He was the dad of one of my friends. He was the best, he let us get away with a lot of stuff as long as we cleaned up after ourselves. He would do his best to get us farm kids home before other kids, he knew we had chores to do and homework too. He drew up the route to drop us off before the other kids.
2. January 26 is National Green Juice Day ( I guess it's true everything really does have it's day). Do you juice, as in make your own in an attempt to get healthy? Do you do the green juices? What's your favorite kind of juice (home blended or store bought, either one)?
No, I am no longer a juicer... I was back in 2015ish I think. I just did not like it, so I stopped. I do remember a beet, apple blended juice I made up, oh goodness, YUCK!
3. What's something trivial about which you have a strong opinion?
Cracking knuckles.... oh it just gives me the shivers. DO NOT DO THAT!!!
4. What do you need more of in your life? Less of?
Less of...
More of...
Spring fever is happening to me earlier and earlier each year... and I have a long way to go, spring does not come to Wisconsin until May!!
5. Give us three adjectives to describe your January.
Cold
Freezing
Frigid
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Happy February
I walked to school (and home for lunch) all through elementary school so didn't ride a bus until junior high. It was fun walking with neighbors and we'd add to our number as we got closer to school. It was about seven blocks and so safe. I have a little spring fever too. We've had more of a winter than we normally do. Supposed to get up near 70 today though so whoohoo! Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the country as well and had a long bus ride! Agree with you on green juice. Just no! Waiting until May for spring sounds rough... I can see how winter would get old really fast. We will start having some beautiful days in March then a few more in April. Have a great day and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha about the January weather and February weather. Let's hope February is kinder in the weather department. Love all your answers. Have a wonderful week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteI remember having nice bus drivers too but these days, my kids' drivers are very mean and strict! Seems weird.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bus riding experience you had because of that dad! So thoughtful. We're on the same page about those healthy smoothies. Yuck. Cracking up about your less of. Since living in NE Washington I yearn for Spring earlier, too. Have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI too road a bus to school and my bus driver was my uncle...was I favored? maybe a bit. No green juice for me as well... January sure has seemed like a long month, and like you, I am ready for Spring. I've never been to Wisconsin, I can only imagine how cold it gets. Our summers are probably much like you all feel about your Winters. Summer is cruel here in Texas. Hope your day is filled with many favors.
ReplyDeleteYour bus rides home do sound like fun and what a fan driver to get you home early.
ReplyDeleteMy girls crack their knuckles and it drives me insane! I wish they wouldn't.
I am still in shock that we are at the end of January. A co-worker said yesterday, "Christmas was a month ago." My mouth dropped open. How?? Your bus driver sounds like a nice person -- working the schedule to get y'all home earlier.
ReplyDeleteI love how you spelled out the month with the hearts! I have never juiced either, and never intend to!
ReplyDeleteThe first few years we walked to school, we were considered "too close" for bus service. we'd form a little pack as we went on our way. Fun in the warm months, miserable in the winter! Love the story of your bus driver, getting you home for your chores. When my brother and I would get home, change clothes - head straight for a snack and a bit of tv. Brady Bunch was my favorite. Juice, no I'd rather eat the whole food. Styrofoam, yuck. Hello February!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Wisconsin had been cold, freezing and frigid and I definitely can't wait for the flowers to be blooming again.
ReplyDeleteThat was nice the bus driver understood the farm kids so they could get home to do chores. I walked home then in 7th and 8 th grade I took a bus. In HS I would walk to school or sometimes get a ride. Mostly I walked home from HS as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the weather is changing - yesterday was another beautiful mild day but today the temps are cooler with a high of 53. Looks like high 40’s to 50’s for the next few days with some rain.!☔️
I bought a juicer and we used it a few times - I wasn’t impressed plus what a hassle and then cleaning the juicer. It sat on top of the refrigerator for about a year, collecting dust and then I finally just donated it.
Ha! I agree with everything you said here: especially the signs and the photos. LOL. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the sound of cracking knuckles either and yes, roll on spring!
ReplyDeleteIt's been such a cold winter here too, and no snow. They say that's going to change this weekend. I haven't even been skiing yet! I am looking forward to spring too!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that the bus driver would take y'all home first. I use to want to ride the bus home and would love it on days when I would go home with a friend who was a bus rider.
